The aggravating situation in Jammu and Kashmir has caught the whole world's eyes now. And the fact that leaders in Pakistan are not sparing any chance to raise the Kashmir issue on the international forums while declining to have any discussions with India unless the Kashmir issue is resolved is not helping either.

Even though the Indian Army has gunned down several prominent terrorists in the past couple of years, the situation shows no signs of improvement.

(a)In the story "Shady Plot", why did Helen appear in bits and pieces ?

Answer»

helen, the ghost worked for writer's inspiration bureau and she was supposed to help John Hallock to get plots and ideas for his story.John would call on heaven to write a story all night long and helen was completely tired doing so. Also, people used Ouija board to ask the ghosts silly questions and this way they could not get any sleep. this made it difficult for helen to appear properly and she appears in bits and parts.

6321.

Justify the title A Shady Plot

Answer»

Ans :- The name of the story is ‘A Shady Plot’. The word ‘shady’ here means ‘quiet, dark, or concealed; hidden’. The word ‘plot’ here means ‘storyline- the plan, scheme, or main story of a literary or dramatic work, as a play, novel, or short story’. The story deals about author’s unintentional involvement with the ghost ‘Helen’, who was the source behind all the plots of his spooky stories. Since the plot of the story is about author’s secret involvement with the ghost, Helen, which his wife comes to know about a little at the end. The entire plot of the story has a ghostly (shady) element. So the title ’A Shady (ghostly) Plot (story) is aptly justified.

Mahatma Gandhi has given many lessons to his disciples, countrymen, and mankind. Those lessons if followed or practiced meticulously, can lead to prosperity, contentment, and happy life. Let’s see a few of the many good lessons taught by Mahatma Gandhi to the coming generations:

1.Non-violence: Mahatma Gandhi has taught mankind to follow the path of non-violence, especially dealing with violent and critical situations. It is true, violence can be overcome through non-violence only. He proved it through his life. If all the people, societies, countries practice non-violence, this world of ours will become a heaven of peace. I would like to practice his lesson of non-violence in my life and be a good citizen.

3.In an AP(i) given a = 5, d-3, a-50, find n and s.72

Answer»

We have, a= 5, d=3 and an=50

> a+(n-1)d= 50

> 5+(n-1)3=50

> 3(n-1)=50-5

> n-1 = 45/3

> n-1 = 15+1 = 16

Putting n = 16, a= 5 and l = an = 50 in Sn= n/2(a+l),We get

S16 = 16/2( 5 + 50) = 8 × 55 = 440

Hence, n= 16 and S16 = 440

Modi InterviwTake P.ManswexwithQuestionand

1. What made you to be a Primd Minister2. Do think people should take interest in becoming a politician3.What are the achievements you got after becoming Prime Minister4.Should People serve there country? And If yes then why?5.What are the responsibility of a Prime Minister6.Do you belive in Superstitions7.What are your thoughts about the country

Q 1: 2018 was not good year for BJP. In 5 elections, BJP saw defeat. Are you confident of winning in 2019? How many seats are expected?

Prime Minister: In my opinion 2018 was a successful year. Elections are just one facet of a number of facets in this country. If in this country poor are given insurance of up to Rs 5 Lakh, through Ayushman Bharat Yojna. Within 100 of its implementation, 6-7 lakh have benefited. In such big numbers people were suffering and today they have got treatment. How can I consider this a failure. It is my biggest achievement. The world today talks about climate change and India was considered as one of the countries that caused pollution. In 2018, the UN awarded the champion of earth, a protector of environment, to a leader. It is a source of pride.

18,000 villages did not have electricity, in this year every village was electrified. In sports, Indian children did a tremendous job. A lot of medals were won. Children from Tier 2, 3 cities, villages and from financial weak background are bringing laurels to the country. Our Para athletes are doing a great job.

104 satellites have been put in orbit is a record of sorts. There has been bumper crop in 2018. Any sector can be taken as an example, India is breaking previous records. 2018 has been a shining year for India.

Q 2: I am talking about electoral losses. BJP lost in 5 states. You are the Prime Minister of the party in power. Don’t you consider this a loss?

Prime Minister: In Telangana and Mizoram, nobody gave BJP any chance or even thought that we would form government. In Chhattisgarh, a clear mandate was given, BJP lost. But in 2 states there was a hung assembly. Secondly, 15 years of anti-incumbency was being fought by our people. We are discussing what was lacking. However, in Haryana local polls we won all, Tripura there was 90-95% victory, J-K 74 % polling took place and in many of those the BJP won. Winning or losing is not the only yardstick.

Q3: However, your vote share not converted into seats. Is theModiwave over?

Prime Minister: At the outset I wish to thank the people who say this. When they say this (Modi wave/Modi magic) …That means people are admitting Modi wave. Check media reports of 2013-14, newspaper and TV debates. A set of persons are there who kept saying that `There is no Modi wave, Modi can’t do anything’…Those same set of persons, may be some have increased or decreased in number, have a responsibility to keep setting a narrative. I am happy that they accept, there is a word called Modi wave or Modi magic.

For me, there is wave only about people’s expectations and aspirations, wave only about trust that who will fulfil our aspirations and expectations. And today trust has increased. Aspirations of youth have increased,.. It itself exhibits a new energy.

Q4: Opposition believes that if the Modi magic has waned the BJP will not get more 180 seats, a sort of ‘Club 180’. They are depending on a non-Modi factor. Can this happen? Do you think the BJP can go below 180 in 2019.

Prime Minister: If they do not do this sort of math and spread such things how will people join their Gathbandhan. They will have to talk big to attract people to themselves.

To save themselves such narratives are set ... Is there any scientific study to this? 2013-14, same set of persons used to talk the Under-200 seats club. You know very well who I am talking about. That narrative continues.

As far as BJP is concerned, we should not mistrust the intelligence of the common man. I keep telling all political pundits let us trust the common man’s intelligence.

After all what did the common people experience from this government such that they will go away from us in 2019? Go back to the newspapers 5 years ago, see that headline, see the headlines now. The common man knows it all. I have faith in the common man and the youth of this country.

Q 5: If we go by your narrative, you have been talking about a Congress-mukt Bharat since 2013. But the recent elections proved that the common man considers the Congress an option to you…This is why in the Hindi heartland, considered your foundation, Congress governments have been formed. Your goal of a Congress-mukt Bharat is not coming to fruition.

Prime Minister: Even Congress people say Congress is a thought, a culture. That culture has been in mainstream for such a long period. Because of this, it has become an integral part of Indian political culture. What is that culture – Casteism, Dynastic politics, undemocratic, nepotism. Congress represents this culture.

When I say Congress-mukt, I want to rid the country from this culture and this sort of thinking. And I have even gone to say that Congress too needs to be mukt of this Congress culture.

Whether institute remains or not, I accept that in a democracy, a strong Opposition is essential but unfortunately the Congress has failed even in that

write a short note on Mahatma Gandhi biography

Answer»

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (Mahatma Gandhi) was born on October 2, 1869, into a Hindu Modh family in Porbanadar, Gujarat, India. His father, named Karamchand Gandhi, was the Chief Minister (diwan) of the city of Porbanadar. His mother, named Putlibai, was the fourth wife; the previous three wives died in childbirth. Gandhi was born into the vaishya (business caste). He was 13 years old when married Kasturbai (Ba) Makhanji, through his parents arrangement. They had four sons. Gandhi learned tolerance and non-injury to living beings from an early age. He was abstinent from meat, alcohol, and promiscuity.

Gandhi studied law at the University of Bombay for one year, then at the University College London, from which he graduated in 1891, and was admitted to the bar of England. His reading of "Civil Disobedience" byDavid Thoreauinspired his devotion to the principle of non-violence. He returned to Bombay and practiced law there for a year, then went to South Africa to work for an Indian firm in Natal. There Gandhi experienced racism: he was thrown off a train while holding a valid first class ticket and pushed to third class. Later he was beaten by a stagecoach driver for refusing to travel on the foot-board to make room for a European passenger. He was barred from many hotels because of his race. In 1894, Gandhi founded the Natal Indian Congress. They focused on the Indian cause and British discrimination in South Africa. In 1897, Gandhi brought his wife and children to South Africa. He was attacked by a mob of racists, who tried to lynch him. He refused to press charges on any member of the mob. Gandhi became the first non-white lawyer to be admitted to the bar in South Africa.

During the South African War, Gandhi was a stretcher barer. He organized the Indian Ambulance corps of 300 Indian volunteers and hundreds of associates to serve wounded black South Africans. He was decorated for his courage at the Battle of Spion Kop. At that time Gandhi corresponded withLeo Tolstoyand expressed his admiration of the Tolstoyan principles of non-violence. In 1906 Gandhi, for the first time, organized a non-violent resistance against the Transvaal government's registration act. He called upon his fellow Indians to defy the new law in a non-violent manner and suffer the punishment for doing so. He was jailed on many occasions along with thousands of his supporters. Peaceful Indian protests caused a public outcry and forced the South African General J. C. Smuts to negotiate a compromise with Gandhi. However, Gandhi supported the British in World War I and encouraged Indians to join the Army to defend the British Empire, in compliance with the full citizenship requirement.

Back in India, Gandhi became active in the struggle for Indian Independence. He spoke at the conventions of the Indian National Congress, becoming one of its leaders. In 1918, Gandhi opposed the increasing tax levied by the British during the devastating famine. He was arrested in Champaran, state Bihar, for organizing civil resistance of tens of thousands of landless farmers and serfs. In jail Gandhi was on a hunger strike in solidarity with the famine stricken farmers. Hundreds of thousands of his supporters gathered around the jail. Gandhi was addressed by the people as Mahatma (Great Soul) and Bapu (Father). He was released. Then he represented the farmers in negotiation with the British administration. His effort worked. The tax collection was suspended and all prisoners were released. He declared that all violence was evil after the Amritsar massacre of 379 civilians by British troops, which traumatized the Indian nation. As the leader of the Indian National Congress party Gandhi launched "Swaraj", a campaign for independence and non-cooperation with the British authorities. He urged Indians to replace British goods with their own fabrics and goods. He was imprisoned from 1922-1924, being released after an appendectomy. During that time a Swaraj party was formed by his anxious opponents; it later dissolved back into the Congress.

Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was an Indian philosopher and statesman who served as the president of the nation from 1962 to 1967. Prior to this, he had served as the first Vice President of India from 1952 to 1962. An educator by profession, he had ventured into politics quite late in life. Born into a poor Brahmin family in southern India, he grew up to be an intelligent and bright boy with an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. His conservative father did not want the boy to learn English and hoped that he would become a priest. But the young Radhakrishnan excelled in his studies and attended the Madras Christian College on a scholarship and graduated with a master's degree in philosophy. He embarked on an academic career and with time established himself as one of India's most distinguished 20th century scholars of comparative religion and philosophy. He was influential in shaping the understanding of Hinduism, in both India and the West. It was only after India’s independence in 1947 that he became involved in politics. For example, Ginger says, "Another caught me by the nose and heldit so tight I could hardly draw my breath; then another took my under jaw in his hard hand and wrenched my mouth open, and so by force they got on the halter and the bar in my mouth; then one dragged me along by the halter, another flogging behind, and this was the first experience I had of men's kindness; it was all force" (Sewell 30). My legs shook un me and I could only stand and pant. I had not a dry hair on my body, the water ran down my legs, and I steamed all over....Poor Joe! He was young and small, and as yet he knew very little, and his father, who would have helped him, had been sent to the next village.

He rubbed Beauty down, but did not put a blanket on him. Innocently, he gave Beauty corn and then cold water to drink. Of course, Beauty becomes sick and has an inflammation in his lungs and a fever, but he recovers after a time. This episode is used by Sewell as a lesson about how detrimental to a horse ignorance is. John thinks that "it is the worst thing in the world, next to wickedness."Further, in Chapter 20 while Joe is on an errand with Beauty, he comes across a cruel man beating his horse because it cannot pull a terribly heavy load. The drunken man curses the boy; Joe hastens to the home of Mr. Clay, a brickmaker, who hastens to the scene. Later, Joe is called in to the Squire, who is a magistrate, and testifies to what he has witnessed. Action is taken against the cruel owner. This episode, too, contains a moral lesson on drunkenness and inhumanness. At the end of the novel, it is Joe Green who works for the Blomefield sisters when they purchase Beauty from Mr. Thoroughgood, who has nursed the broken horse back to health. As Joe grooms Beauty, he recognizes the star on his forehead, the one white mark on his front leg, and his scar from having been bled. Elated to find Beauty, he informs the sisters about the horse, and they write to Mrs. Gordon to tell her that Beauty has come to them.

St. John the Apostle, also calledSaint John the EvangelistorSaint John the Divine, (flourished 1st centuryCE; Western feast day December 27; Eastern feast days May 8 and September 26), in Christian tradition, anapostleofJesusand the author of threeletters, theFourth Gospel, and possibly theRevelation to Johnin theNew Testament. He played a leading role in the early church atJerusalem.John was the son of Zebedee, a Galilean fisherman, andSalome. John and his brotherSt. Jameswere among the firstdisciplescalled byJesus. In TheGospel According to Markhe is always mentioned after James and was no doubt the younger brother. His mother was among those women who ministered to the circle of disciples. James and John were called Boanerges, or “sons of thunder,” by Jesus, perhaps because of some character trait such as the zeal exemplified in Mark 9:38 and Luke 9:54, when John and James wanted to call down fire from heaven to punish theSamaritantowns that did not accept Jesus. John and his brother, together withSt. Peter, formed an inner nucleus ofintimatedisciples. In the Fourth Gospel, ascribed by early tradition to John and known formally as The Gospel According to John, the sons of Zebedee are mentioned only once, as being at the shores of the Sea of Tiberias when the risen Lord appeared. Whether the “disciple whom Jesus loved” (who is never named) mentioned in this Gospel is to be identified with John (also not named) is not clear from the text.
