संजय – अरे ए.सी. ही क्यों, विज्ञान ने ही हमें बिजली की रोशनी दी है। बिजली से ही पंखे चलते हैं, फ्रीज में चीजें सुरक्षित रहती हैं। ठंडी में नहाने के लिए गर्म पानी करनेवाला गीजर भी बिजली से ही चलता है। लिफ्ट भी बिजली से ही चलती है।

मंजुल – सिनेमा, टीवी, टेलीफोन, मोबाइल, कम्प्यूटर, लेपटोप आदि भी विज्ञान की अद्भुत खोजें हैं।

गौरव – अरे विज्ञान के गुण गानेवालों, यह क्यों भूल जाते हो कि ये बम, मिसाइलें, तरह-तरह के ड्रग्स भी विज्ञान के ही आविष्कार हैं। बम-विस्फोटों से जान-माल की जो भयंकर हानि हो रही है, वह विज्ञान का शाप नहीं तो और क्या है?

अनूप – हाँ, इसमें कोई शक नहीं कि विज्ञान ने मानव के विनाश के साधनों का भी आविष्कार किया है। इस अर्थ में वह अवश्य शाप है, परंतु उसने तरह-तरह की सुविधाएँ भी दी हैं। विनाश के साथ उसने हमें विकास के साधन भी दिए हैं।

मंजुल-देखो भाई, हर सिक्के के दो पहलू होते हैं। अच्छाइयों के साथ बुराइयाँ सब में होती हैं। फूलों के राजा गुलाब में भी काँटे होते हैं।

संजय – इसका मतलब यही है कि विज्ञान यदि वरदान है, तो शाप भी है। परंतु उसके वरदान इतने हैं कि उसके शापों पर जल्दी ध्यान ही नहीं जाता।

मंजुल- कुछ भी हो आज के मनुष्य के लिए तो विज्ञान वरदान ही है।

बड़े भाई साहब ने उस समय की शिक्षा प्रणाली में जिन कमियों की ओर संकेत किया है उनमें मुख्य हैं-एक ही परीक्षा द्वारा छात्रों का मूल्यांकन अर्थात् वार्षिक परीक्षा के परिणाम पर ही छात्रों का भविष्य निर्भर करता था। इस प्रणाली से रटने की प्रवृत्ति को बढ़ावा मिलता था। इसमें छात्रों के अन्य पहलुओं के मूल्यांकन की न तो व्यवस्था थी और न उन्हें महत्त्व दिया जाता था। इसके अलावा परीक्षकों का दृष्टिकोण भी कुछ ऐसा था कि वे छात्रों से उस तरह के उत्तर की अपेक्षा करते थे जैसा पुस्तक में लिखा है। किताब से उत्तर अलग होते ही शून्य अंक मिल जाते थे। यद्यपि इन कारणों से ही भाई साहब अपने फेल होने का दोष परीक्षा प्रणाली पर नहीं डाल सकते हैं। वे खुद भी तो समझकर पढ़ने के बजाय रटकर पढ़ते थे जो उनके फेल होने का कारण बनी। इस तरह भाई साहब के विचारों से मैं सहमत नहीं हूँ। पास होने के लिए उन्हें विषयों को समझकर पढ़ने की जरूरत होती है जो उन्होंने नहीं किया।
