Define the following terms with appropriate examples(a) Multiple alleles (b) Co dominance |
|
Answer» Answer: A)multiple alleles Three or more alternative forms of a gene (alleles) that can occupy the same LOCUS. HOWEVER, only two of the alleles can be present in a single organism. For example, the ABO system of blood groups is CONTROLLED by three alleles, only two of which are present in an individual. A Dictionary of Biology. B)Codominance means that neither ALLELE can mask the expression of the other allele. An example in humans WOULD be the ABO blood group, where alleles A and alleles B are both expressed. So if an individual inherits allele A from their mother and allele B from their father, they have blood type AB |

Answer» Incomplete dominance is the condition when none of FACTORS of a gene is dominant, the phenotype of heterozygous dominant individual is blend of dominant and recessive traits. Here, monohybrid cross between two pure varieties gives 1 : 2 : 1 phenotypic RATIO in F 2
generation which is 3 : 1 in otherwise dominant traits. Hence, option A is incorrect. The phenotypic ratio of F 2
generation of a dihybrid cross is 9 : 3 : 3 : 1 provided that the alleles of both follow dominant-recessive relationship. Hence, option B is incorrect. A trait governed by more than one gene where dominant allele of each gene express only a part of trait and the full trait is expressed only in PRESENCE of dominant alleles of all multiple genes, is called polygenic inheritance. The phenotype of the organism depends upon number of dominant alleles. A cross between two individuals which are heterozygous for two alleles produce phenotypic ratio of 1 : 4 : 6 : 4 : 1. Hence, option C is incorrect. A cross between two individuals which are heterozygous for three alleles will produce phenotypic ratio of 1 (all dominant alleles): 6 (atleast one recessive allele) : 15 (atleast two recessive alleles) : 20 (three recessive alleles) : 15 (four recessive alleles) : 6 (five recessive alleles) : 1 (all re |

Activity - Prepare a report.* "The air quality has improved during lockdown." How has this improvement led to nature's come back? What precautions should be taken in future to maintain this quality? Please tell fast Please plz |
|
Answer» Answer: Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, a nationwide lockdown is imposed in India initially for three weeks from 24th March to 14th April 2020 and extended up to 3rd May 2020. Due to the forced restrictions, pollution level in cities across the country drastically slowed down just within few days which magnetize discussions regarding lockdown to be the effectual ALTERNATIVE measures to be implemented for controlling air pollution. The present article eventually worked on this direction to LOOK upon the air quality scenario amidst the lockdown period scientifically with special reference to the megacity Delhi. With the aid of air quality data of seven pollutant parameters (PM10, PM2.5, SO2, NO2, CO, O3 and NH3) for 34 monitoring stations spread over the megacity we have employed National Air Quality Index (NAQI) to show the spatial pattern of air quality in pre and during-lockdown phases. The results demonstrated that during lockdown air quality is significantly improved. Among the selected pollutants, concentrations of PM10 and PM2.5 have witnessed maximum reduction (>50%) in compare to the pre-lockdown phase. In compare to the last year (i.e. 2019) during the SAID time period the reduction of PM10 and PM2.5 is as high as about 60% and 39% respectively. Among other pollutants, NO2 (−52.68%) and CO (−30.35%) level have also reduced during-lockdown phase. About 40% to 50% improvement in air quality is identified just after four days of COMMENCING lockdown. About 54%, 49%, 43%, 37% and 31% reduction in NAQI have been observed in Central, Eastern, Southern, Western and Northern parts of the megacity. Overall, the study is thought to be a useful supplement to the regulatory bodies since it showed the pollution source control can attenuate the air quality. Temporary such source control in a suitable time interval may heal the environment.

Write a para on saprotrophic mode of nutritionminimum 10 lines |
|
Answer» Saprotrophic NUTRITION /sæprəˈtrɒfɪk, -proʊ-/[1] or lysotrophic nutrition is a process of chemoheterotrophic extracellular digestion involved in the processing of decayed (dead or waste) organic matter. It occurs in SAPROTROPHS, and is most OFTEN associated with fungi (for example Mucor) and SOIL bacteria. Saprotrophic microscopic fungi are sometimes called saprobes; saprotrophic plants or bacterial flora are called saprophytes (sapro- + -phyte, "rotten material" + "plant"), though it is now believed that all plants previously thought to be saprotrophic are in fact parasites of microscopic fungi or other plants. The process is most often facilitated through the active transport of such materials through endocytosis within the INTERNAL mycelium and its constituent hyphae... HOPE IT HELPS U..
