A train starts from Patna on 30th May 2020 at 23:40 HRS and reaches Mumbai on 1st June 2020 at 5:15 PM. What is the total travel time?

Answer»

Topic :-

Conversion of UNITS

Given :-

A train starts from Patna on 30th May 2020 at 23:40 HRS and reaches Mumbai on 1st June 2020 at 5:15 PM.

To Find :-

Total travel time.

Solution :-

The train started from Patna on 30th May 2020 at 23:40 HRS and it reached Mumbai on 1st June 2020 at 5:15 PM.

It means train travelled on 30th May, 31st May and on 1st June.

Note : Month 'May' contains 31 days.

Calculating travel time of 30th May,

Train started at 23:40 HRS and a day gets changed as time gets 00:00 HRS.

So, time travelled =

( 60 - 40 ) minutes

20 minutes

So, travel time of 30th May is 20 minutes.

Note : 1 hour = 60 minutes

Calculating travel time of 31st May,

The train travelled WHOLE day which means train travelled 24 hours.

Note : 1 day = 24 hours

Calculating travel time of 1st June,

Train reached Mumbai at 5:15 PM.

If time is in PM then we can convert it into HRS by adding 12:00 to it.

It means train reached Mumbai at

5 : 15 + 12 : 00 HRS

Add hours and minutes separately.

5 + 12 : 15 + 00 HRS

17: 15 HRS

It means train travelled 17 hours and 15 minutes on 1st June.

Note : If time is in AM then we can directly write it in HRS without doing any operation.

Calculating total travel time,

Time travelled on 30th May + Time travelled on 31st May + Time travelled on 1st June

20 minutes + 24 hours + 17 hours + 15 minutes

24 hours + 17 hours + 20 minutes + 15 minutes

41 hours + 35 minutes

Answer :-

So, total time travelled by train on this journey is 41 hours and 35 minutes.

In school assembly, students of a class are standing in a line. Ruhi is 19th from both ends. How many students are present in that class?

Answer»

Given:

In school assembly, students of a CLASS are standing in a LINE. Ruhi is 19th from both ends.

\\ \\

To Find:

How many students are present in that class?

\\ \\

Solution:

\\

◐ As it's said that Ruhi stands in the 19th position from both the ends.

\\

→ Position of Ruhi will be 18th from the front

18th from the back side

so, TOTAL no.of students EXCLUDING Ruhi will be:

\\

\longrightarrow \sf \: 18 + 18 \: \\ \\ \longrightarrow \sf 36 \bigstar \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \:

hence , the no. of students excluding her are 36

\\

so, the total number of students will be:

\longrightarrow \sf 36 + 1 \\ \\ \longrightarrow \sf <klux>37</klux> \bigstar \: \: \: \:

\\

therefore the total no.of students in the assembly are 37
