A. Short-Answer Questions:1. How can you say that hot air is lighter than cold air?2. What is the function of the kink in a thermometer?3.Containers carrying petrol and diesel are coated with insulators. Give reason.4. Name the common liquids with which thermometers are filled. What precautions should you take while handling a thermometer?5. Explain briefly with the help of an activity that the amount of heat absorbed by an object depends on its colour.

Answer»

Answer:

1)HOT air is lighter than cold air. The reason fr this is when air gets heated up it expands and becomes less dense than the air surrounding it also the distance between the molecules increases. So the less dense air floats in the much denser air just like ice floats on water as ice is less dense than water.

2)The kink breaks the mercury ensuring that the mercury isn't sucked back into the bulb allowing the temperature to be read. Before it can be used again the thermometer has to be shaken to force the mercury back down and remove the break.

3)Petrol and DIESEL have a tendency to catch fire (spontaneous combustion) when it's in contact with a little high temperature.... Therefore containers CARRYING petrol and diesel are coated with insulators so that the temperature inside the CONTAINER would be less....

4)For this reason, a common form of thermometer contains a liquid in a narrow glass tube. Mercury is ONE of the most familiar materials used in liquid thermometers. Other liquids, such as kerosene or ethanol, may also be used in these types of thermometers

5)Dark colors, especially black, absorb more heat since they'll absorb more light from the environment. If you're trying to stay cool, wear light colors, which absorb less heat.

Why is it done?(b) How does painting an iron grill prevent rusting of the grill?J

Answer»

1 .chemical change

2 .physical change

3 .physical change

4 .physical change

5. Physical changes are changes affecting the form of a chemical SUBSTANCE, but not its chemical composition. Physical changes are used to separate MIXTURES into their component compounds, but can not usually be used to separate compounds into chemical elements or simpler compounds EG ; boiling and freezing

6.Rusting is an oxidation reaction. The iron reacts with water and oxygen to form hydrated iron(III) oxide, which we see as rust.

Here is the word equation for the reaction:

iron + water + oxygen → hydrated iron(III) oxide

Iron and steel rust when they come into contact with water and oxygen – both are needed for rusting

eg: by galvanisation by paint

7.galvanisation is a process of of applying a PROTECTIVE zinc coating to steel or iron, to prevent rusting. the most COMMON method is hot-dip galvanizing,

Guys create ur on reacher paper on this covid pandimic believe me u will be famous one

Answer»

Answer:

In the past week, we have seen a rapid escalation of cases of COVID-19.

More cases and deaths have now been reported in the rest of the world than in China.

We have also seen a rapid escalation in social distancing measures, like closing SCHOOLS and cancelling sporting events and other gatherings.

But we have not seen an urgent enough escalation in testing, isolation and contact tracing – which is the backbone of the response.

Social distancing measures can help to reduce transmission and enable health systems to cope.

Handwashing and coughing into your elbow can reduce the risk for yourself and others.

But on their own, they are not enough to extinguish this pandemic. It’s the combination that makes the difference.

As I keep saying, all countries must take a comprehensive approach.

But the most effective way to prevent infections and save lives is breaking the chains of transmission. And to do that, you must test and isolate.

You cannot fight a fire blindfolded. And we cannot stop this pandemic if we don’t know who is infected.

We have a simple message for all countries: test, test, test.

Test every suspected case.

If they test positive, isolate them and find out who they have been in close contact with up to 2 days before they developed symptoms, and test those people too. [NOTE: WHO recommends testing contacts of confirmed cases only if they SHOW symptoms of COVID-19]

Every day, more tests are being produced to meet the global demand.

WHO has shipped almost 1.5 MILLION tests to 120 countries. We’re WORKING with companies to increase the availability of tests for those most in need.

WHO advises that all confirmed cases, even mild cases, should be isolated in health facilities, to prevent transmission and provide adequate care.

But we recognize that many countries have already exceeded their capacity to care for mild cases in dedicated health facilities.

In that situation, countries should prioritize older patients and those with underlying conditions.

Some countries have expanded their capacity by using stadiums and gyms to care for mild cases, with severe and critical cases cared for in hospitals.

Another option is for patients with mild disease to be isolated and cared for at home.

Caring for infected people at home may put others in the same household at risk, so it’s critical that care-givers follow WHO’s guidance on how to provide care as safely as possible.

For example, both the patient and their care-giver should wear a medical mask when they are together in the same room.

The patient should sleep in a separate bedroom to others and use a different bathroom.

Assign one person to care for the patient, ideally someone who is in good health and has no underlying conditions.

The care-giver should wash their HANDS after any contact with the patient or their immediate environment.

People infected with COVID-19 can still infect others after they stop feeling sick, so these measures should continue for at least two weeks after symptoms disappear.

Visitors should not be allowed until the end of this period.

There are more details in WHO’s guidance.

Question 4.

The bulb in the circuit shown in figure does not glow. Can you identify the problem? Make necessary changes in the circuit to make the bulb glow.

Physics Class 7 ElectricCircuits CIrcuit 3

Answer:

The positive terminal (+) of one cell should always be connected to negative terminal (-) of another cell.

But in case of above circuit both the positive terminals are connected to each other. This is the reason battery is not able to GENERATE electricity.

Therefore the change which should be made to the circuit will be that the positive terminal (+) should be connected to negative terminal (-) of the cell and vice-versa.

Question 5.

Name any two EFFECTS of electric current.

Answer:

The two effects of electric current are:-

Heating effect

Magnetic effect

Heating Effect of current: When an electric current passes through a wire, the wire gets heated. This is known as the heating effect of current.

The heating effect is used in many heating applications like electric heater, electric iron, light bulb etc.

Magnetic Effect of current: When an electric current flows through a wire, it generates magnetic field around it.

This effect is known as magnetic effect of current. Magnetic Effect of electric current has many applications like power lift, electric bell, electric fan etc.

Physics Class 7 Electric Currents Magnetic & Electric Effects

Question 6.

When the current is switched on through a wire, a compass needle kept nearby gets deflected from its north-south position. Explain.

Answer:

The current flowing through the conducting wire creates magnetic field. When a compass is kept nearby this wire,

it will experience two magnetic fields (one magnetic field due to wire and another magnetic field due to compass).

As a result when they interact with each other there will be deflection seen in the magnetic needle.

When the current is switched off, there is no magnetic field produced by the wire, magnetic needle does not deflect from its north-south position.

Physics Class 7 ElectricCircuits Magnetic Needle

Question 7.

Will the compass needle show deflection when the switch in the circuit shown by Figure is closed?

Physics Class 7 Electric Currents Circuit With Compass

Answer:

There is no source of electric current i.e. (battery or cell). The circuit is an open circuit.

There will be no current flowing it, as a result, there will be no magnetic field produced by the wires.

Therefore there is no deflection shown by the compass needle.

Complete the table main crops and inter crops

Answer»

Answer:

Nomenclature

Multicropping is probably the oldest form of agriculture and is still widespread, particularly in tropical and low-input production systems. In principle, sequential cropping, where a second crop is grown after the harvest of a first crop, is a simple form of multicropping. However, most multicrops involve the cultivation of two or more species on the same piece of land where the growth cycles of different species overlap for at least part of their DURATION. Such multicrops may take the form of intercrops, where growth and yield are confined to a single growing season, or agroforestry, where a perennial component, e.g., trees or shrubs, occupies some of the land over a series of growing seasons. Table 1 describes various TYPES of cropping system ranging from the simplicity and UNIFORMITY of monocrops, where similar plants GROW alongside each other simultaneously and sequentially from one season to the next, through to the multiplicity and heterogeneity of agroforestry systems where diverse plant types coexist within and between seasons. These complex systems may include dual canopy crops where high-value plantation crops such as oil palm (Elaeis guineensis), coconut (Cocos nucifera), cocoa (Theobroma cacoa), or rubber (Hevea brasiliensis) are interplanted with annual species. Here, a lower, shorter-duration crop complements the upper canopy of the plantation species. Alternatively, they may be MULTIPURPOSE home gardens containing a woody component alongside vegetables, staples, and fruits.
