1.

If Ram walks at the speed of 3 km/hr, then he reaches his school 6 minutes late but if he walks at the speed of 4 km/hr, then he reaches 4 minutes before the scheduled time. What is the distance (in km) of his school from his house?1). 1.82). 23). 3.54). 4

Answer»

Let DISTANCE between Ram’s SCHOOL and his house is D km and actual time taken by Ram to reach his school from his home is ‘t’ minutes.

According to the question,

D = (t + 6)/60 × 3----(1)

And, D = (t - 4)/60 × 4----(2)

Equating equation (1) and (2), we get

(t + 6)/60 × 3 = (t - 4)/60 × 4

3T + 18 = 4T - 16

⇒ t = 34 minutes

∴ Distance (D) = (t + 6)/60 × 3 = (34 + 6)/60 × 3 = 2 km
