Essay on the measurements of intelligence is the ability to change in 500 words

Answer»

Answer:

The measure of intelligence is the ability to change

It is absolutely true one’s ability to change determines one’s intelligence level. Change is a great quality. If you can adapt, you can achieve anything. All great people who achieved phenomenal success had this quality. In their pursuit of their goals when they failed repeatedly, they changed their STRATEGIES and course to accomplish their goals and finally succeeded.

One really has to change to be successful. Have you ever seen a river? How meandering and winding is its course! Do you know why? Well, river is the greatest example of change. Whenever any obstacle comes in its way, it either MAKES its course round or FLOWS over it. And finally reaches its destination, the sea. Similarly, if a man wishes to be successful, he must adapt himself to the challenges he faces. He must not stop making efforts. He must change his strategies and be successful. Sometimes it is wiser to go round an obstacle than be deterred by its formidable height.

Even in the evolutionary PROCESS only those ANIMALS survived that were quick to adapt; big animals such as dinosaurs under whose thuds shook the earth were wiped out. On the contrary small animals like platypuses, cockroaches, bees, turtles, etc. could survive because they adapted to the changes.

All great men and women achieved success following the principle of change. Intelligence may help us in life, but change definitely helps us much more. So learn to change yourself according to the situation.

Literary devices used in "The Portrait of a Lady"

Answer»

Answer:

The narrator is a third person, and is not a character himself in the novel. He selectively chooses to narrate from within the PSYCHOLOGICAL consciousnesses of his characters, MOSTLY from the point of view of Isabel Archer. He ALSO from TIME to time tells us what goes on in the mind of some of the other characters, such as Madame Merle and Gilbert Osmond, although we usually do not see their perspectives.

Explanation:

The narrator has an ironic distance in his tone at times, but he also seems to empathize with Isabel Archer's point of view. He objectively points out some of Isabel's flaws, but he also BELIEVES in her essential value as an interesting worthwhile character. The mood of the story changes from setting to setting. Gardencourt is a hopeful place in the beginning, and Florence is full of the riches of life and beauty. However, Gilbert Osmond's home, located near Florence, is repressive and dismal. Rome is initially depicted as a place of action and events: where surprising changes comes about. However, when Isabel and Osmond move there, it becomes a place of mournful superficiality.

Argumentative essay on Schools must not grade students only on their academic performance (150 - 200 words)

Answer»

Schools must not grade a student based on their academic performance because many students may have talents in other FIELDS as well so teachers should understand their point of interest and encourage them in that particular field.

In many cases it is found that students are forced by their parents to study in order to get more marks than other students but that can create a lot of problems in future if the student is UNABLE to take so much pressure.Teachers should teach their students about the importance of education but one should also remember that studying doesn't mean to score the highest and top the class even if you are not capable of it.So a school should judge a student in all aspects because a pilot cannot become a doctor and  VICE VERSA.

How did vallis tiny wish became an overwhelming Desire?

Answer»

Answer:

The lesson is about an eight year old girl named Valli, who did not have friends to play with and so she would spend her time by looking at the outside affairs going on the street. Her favourite part was to look at the bus that passed by her village every hour. It gave her endless joy to look at the new set of passengers each time the bus crossed by. GRADUALLY, even she wished to travel by bus. Soon, the wish turned into a desire and therefore, she made it her mission to fulfill it. She started listening to the conversations between her neighbours who frequently travelled by bus and in the process, would ASK a few careful questions here and there to collect more information. Just like this, she knew that the town is six miles away from her village and it took the bus forty five minutes to travel one SIDE. One-sided fare was thirty paise making it sixty for a back and forth ride. Therefore, she started planning and re-planning so that she could sneak out during her mother’s afternoon nap and come back without her knowing anything. She needed to save the money which was not easy as she had to resist the temptation of candy, peppermint and merry-go-round. Finally, she saved enough money and one fine day, the brave eight year old took the bus during it’s not very busy hours. She refused to take any help from the conductor or fellow passengers. It was an amusing sight for everyone to see such a small girl all alone acting like an adult. The conductor was of the joking sort and thus, referred to Valli as a grown up ‘madam’. Short-heighted Valli would stand on her seat to be able to see clearly from the window while everyone advised her to sit for her own safety. Each time someone would poke their nose in her business, Valli would get annoyed as she did not consider herself a child. She did not want to be friends with an elderly lady who was worried about her because she thought she was not socially-capable enough. She enjoyed seeing what was going on outside and the sight of a running cow in the middle of a road was abruptly a funny scenario for her. Upon reaching the town, she refused to get down the bus because she was too afraid to do so alone. While returning, she carried extreme enthusiasm until she saw a cow lying lifeless on the road. It was the same cow that was so joyous previously. Valli got terrified at the fact that how a creature so full of life can instantly turn into something horrible. She sat down silently for rest of the journey. Upon reaching home, she found her mother and aunt talking about the endless POSSIBILITIES in the world outside. Valli affirmed to what her mother was sayingleaving both of them astonished. She then justified her REACTION by mentioning that she was casually agreeing to what her mother was saying. Her aunt then referred to Valli as a nose-poking child who acts like a grown up lady but only Valli knew what she was referring to because, after all, no one knew about her bus journey.

I can become an ideal citizen as mahathma Gandhi wanted by(or) an ideal Indian village envisioned by mahathma Gandhi would be write a poem

Answer»

Answer:

Mahatma Gandhi was one of the prominent leaders during the Indian freedom struggle. He strongly believed in Satya and Ahimsa meaning truth and non-violence. He followed the PATH of Satyagrah to fight the British and was joined by numerous Indians. Although some freedom fighters opposed his ideologies and believed that the British could only be thrown out of the country by aggressive movements and the use of violent methods. However, Gandhiji continued to fight the British in his own unique ways. He led various Satyagrah movements to attain freedom. Some of them are:

Non Cooperation Movement

This movement was initiated by Mahatma Gandhi in August 1920. It was Bapu’s answer to the unfortunate Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. Thousands of Indians joined him in this movement. They took to non-violent means by refusing to purchase the goods sold by British. They began using local products thereby hampering the British business in the country. Gandhiji urged Indians to spin Khadi and make their own clothes and become self reliant. People followed him and boycotted the British goods. This did not only shake the British Empire but also brought the Indians closer and made them realize the power of staying united.

Dandi March and SALT Satyagraha

Gandhiji started the Dandi March in the year 1930 with 78 volunteers. This was his non-violent reaction against the taxation on salt introduced by the British government. Gandhiji and his followers marched to Gujarat’s coastal village of Dandi to produce salt from SEAWATER. The march lasted for as many as 25 DAYS from 12th March to 6th April. Gandhiji and his followers covered a distance of 390 km during these 25 days as they marched from the Sabarmati Ashram to Dandi. Numerous people joined them on their way. This movement had an even greater impact on the British.

Quit India Movement

This was yet another movement initiated by Mahatma Gandhi. Quit India Movement was initiated in August 1942 and turned out to be one of the major movements in the history of India’s struggle for freedom. Gandhiji and many other leaders got arrested during this movement. Those outside continued to carry out processions and protests at various places in the country. They were supported by large number of people who fought selflessly.

Conclusion

All the movements led by Gandhi Ji played an IMPORTANT role in the freedom struggle. Gandhi Ji’s ideologies inspired thousands of Indians during his time and continue to impress the youth even today. No wonder, he is called the father of the nation.

I hope this will help you !!!

Central idea of cheerfulness taught by reason by elizabeth barret browning

Answer»

Cheerfulness Taught by Reason

Elizabeth Barrett Browning - 1806-1861

I think we are too ready with complaint

In this FAIR world of God’s. Had we no hope

Indeed beyond the zenith and the slope

Of yon gray blank of sky, we might be faint

To muse upon eternity’s constraint

Round our aspirant souls. But since the scope

Must widen early, is it WELL to droop,

For a few days consumed in loss and taint?

O pusillanimous Heart, be comforted,—

And, like a cheerful traveller, take the road—

Singing beside the hedge. What if the bread

Be bitter in THINE inn, and thou unshod

To meet the flints?—At least it may be said,

“Because the way is SHORT, I thank thee, God!”

This poem is in the public domain.

Elizabeth Barrett Browning

Born in 1806 at Coxhoe Hall, Durham, England, Elizabeth Barrett Browning was a celebrated ENGLISH poet of the Romantic Movement.

Debate on computer (against)

Answer»

. In the modern context of the above quoted

lines we can say there is 'Internet, internet everywhere, not much good use of

it.' I STRONGLY feel early exposure of children to computers has many

disagreeable effects. The foremost is the adverse effect on health, especially

their eyes.

The children should not be taught computers from Ist class. The

easy accessibility of all types of information on the Internet through

computers may do more harm than good to the younger generation. There is no

denying the fact that equally good and useful information related to studies,

education, books and health is freely available, but unfortunately the number

of children who access these useful sites is far less compared to those who

access pornographic, video GAMES, songs and other related sites! How many of us

have seen a youngster using his SMARTPHONE to surf an educational site? I know

the answer! Very rarely! Our youth predominantly use Facebook, Whatsapp,

Youtube, and similar sites on their high-end smartphones and tabs; not any

educational or other informative sites!

They may become so much addicted to these useless,

time-wasting sites, that they might sacrifice their study and research hours

for the sake of their fruitless, pleasure seeking pursuits! They might going

astray! They need to be shown the RIGHT way. Internet and computers in

themselves are wonderful reference source, but they need to be handled with

care, which the children and the youth need to be trained into.

The need of the hour is strict monitoring. At this tender

age the youth should be provided controlled access to the internet. Sites such

as show pornographic stuff, VIOLENCE, aggressive games, etc should be

inaccessible to the youth. On the other hand, online libraries, study reference

material, counseling, meditation, healthy living life style, positive mind

building games related to studies, encyclopedias, etc should be provided free

of cost. These basic steps taken can really save many youngsters from taking

the path to crime and violence.

So, keeping in my mind the disadvantages of computer exposure at early age might influence children’s life adversely. Computer should be taught only at middle classes

How did griffin react with mrs hall throughout he stayed in the inn?

Answer»

Mrs Hall was dominating kind of wife who perhaps had low opinion of her

husband.

Mr Hall too was a little sluggish in his approach to personal, professional

and familial life and as such, failed to be the bread and butter winner,

leaving only a poor impression on his wife's mind.

On the other hand she had an opportunity to earn money even in off

season TIME. She, therefore, did not WANT to entertain any opposite idea

on the part of other people about the stranger.

There could be a tinge of jealousy in Mr Hall which she noticed and as

such, regarded his observations being little bit PREJUDICED about the

stranger.

By this way it can be concluded that she was a credulous, somewhat

irresponsible (in believing the stranger even WITHOUT confirming his

identity) about her FAMILY's well-being and judgmental about her husband

(not giving any respect to what he said).
