Dear Editor:
While in Chennai, I went around the city for four days, and every day more GARBAGE covered streets, dirty, bleak and hopeless revealed themselves to me. With a sinking heart I realized that this was a symbol of apathy and despair. 
I witnessed roads and narrow streets choked with traffic. Big SUV petrol guzzlers aggressively pushing the hapless pedestrian to the extreme edge- juggling his way grabbing for space. “India’s crumbling metros” I thought,  the situation being the same in all our big cities. But in this despair I saw a ray of LIGHT:- Mr. Kamal Hassan- If he is serious about a better India he must get his Swach Bharat act together. 
Urgent measures must be taken with action-oriented programs, working in tandem with the municipality, giving them a viable proposal for clean up. We need to appoint wardens, locate SITES for landfills, and last but not least create awareness in the public about the hazards of littering. In fact a penality should be imposed on defaulters. There is no time for complacency. Swift action must be taken or else India FAR from a colorful tourist destination, will become a hot spot for DISEASE and epidemics.
We in Kodai have been active in our city and village cleanup since 1999. Admittedly it has been a long haul- we have seen some change but a lot more still needs to be done.
Mr. Kamal Hassan I appeal to you to start directing reality before the curtain comes down all together!

Obey laws and respect authority
dont break laws and ALSO refrain others from doing so
if not satisfied by any law use constitutional means
civic and social DUTY should be performed
beware of issues affecting society and PROVIDE solutions to them
vote intelligently
pay taxes
use acts like RTE,RIT for betterment of our country
keep your surroundings and locality clean
use of dustbins
care of public property as WELL as others property
be honest to your country
develop deep sense of patriotism towards your country
you must be able to teach the generations to come to show love and respect towards our country

                                   Environment Fifty Years Ago

50 years ago the environment of our planet was 100 timespurer and more beautiful than what it is today! There was less smoke and smogin the atmosphere. Global warming had not become such an unmanageable problem.Forests had not been cut so much! World population explosion had not affectedthe beauty and purity of life so much.

 Lambs, deer, hares and kids used tofrisk and FROLIC down the VERDANT valleys.  Brooks, rills, rivers and streams flowed downthe slopes merrily! There were green MEADOWS, pastures and terraced fields inplenty!  The pure blue sky withcotton-like cirrus flitting merrily high above looked so beautiful!

The canker of industrialization had not converted the once heaven like townsand cities into hell. The sylvan beauty, for which now we go to hill stations,had not been replaced by factories and MILLS. The skyline dominated by tall pineshad not been replaced by an ugly sight of stacks spewing toxic fumes!

The clear rills and brooks that were picnic spots 50 years ago have now beenconverted into drainage channels, carrying effluents to the rivers, which have becomea bigger channels carrying the muck to the sea! The entire world is losing itsbeauty and purity. The mankind a silent witness to this ugly transformation iswaiting for some angel to come down and do the cleaning, preserving, andpollution managing! That angel will never descend. The entire mankind will dieas a result of its own misdeeds if it does not make ENVIRONMENT its FIRST PRIORITY!

The need of the hour is conserving and preserving theenvironmental beauty and purity of the surroundings. This task is quiteHerculean.  The only solution to thecritical environmental issues is people’s mass participation in saving theenvironment. Mass forestation drive, and stopping the use of fossil fuelsaltogether can solve this problem.

There are other alternative fuels available. The governmentmust act strictly. There should be a ban on fossil fuels. The government mustcreate forest belt near every city or town. Toxic emissions of industries mustbe strictly regularized.  Installation oftoxic smoke and effluents treatment plants must be mandatory at everyindustrial unit. With these measures strictly and immediately implemented theenvironmental health will improve considerably. Unless the people come forward, this mission cannot be accomplished.They must minimize their carbon footprint. They must adopt eco-friendly ways oflife. Government alone cannot do anything. People will have to act proactively.We must not forget that if we have to stand in the categories of advancednations, we will have to make our country as clean and green as them.

It is India's biggest ever cleanliness drive and 3 MILLION government employees and school and college students of India participated in this event.[4][5] The MISSION was started by Prime Minister Modi, who nominated nine famous personalities for the campaign, and they took up the challenge and nominated nine more people and so on (like the branching of a tree). It has been carried forward since then with people from all walks of life joining it.The components of the programme are: a) Construction of individual sanitary latrines for households below the poverty line with subsidy (80%) where demand exists. b) Conversion of dry latrines into low-cost sanitary latrines. c) Construction of exclusive village sanitary complexes for women providing facilities for hand pumping, BATHING, sanitation and washing on a selective basis where there is not adequate land or space within houses and where village panchayats are willing to maintain the facilities. d) Setting up of sanitary marts. e) Total sanitation of villages through the construction of drains, soakage pits, SOLID and liquid waste disposal. f) Intensive campaign for awareness generation and health education to create a felt need for personal, household and environmental sanitation facilities

Meanwhile, his daughter, Jessica, falls in love with Antonio's friend Lorenzo and converts herself into a Christian, further fuelling Shylock's RAGE. Jessica also states that her life with her father is like hell.

The things that never happened in the history of Indian Republic Day
1. Barack Obama on Monday became the first American President to grace the Republic Day celebrations.
2.In a departure from tradition, Obama and Michelle arrived in the presidential armoured limousine, 'the Beast'.
The chief guest of the Republic Day usually comes to the venue with the President, the head of the state.
3. For the first time, an all-women's contingent drawn from the three services featured at the event, while the Indian Army, the Indian Navy and the Indian Air Force also fielded all-women contingents.
And, with "women's empowerment" being the theme of this year's Republic Day parade, another attraction at the annual extravaganza was the contingents of allwomen officers of the three Services marching for the first time on the Rajpath.
4.Telangana made its debut at the Republic Day Parade this year, displaying the state's illustrious festival 'Bonalu' in the tableau.
Telangana, which came into existence in June 2014 as the 29th state of India, showcased Golkonda Fort in its tableau from where the festival starts. GODDESS Mahankali is celebrated during the Bonalu festival.
