A summary of "the canterville ghost" by Oscar Wilde

Answer»

The Canterville Ghost story is around a countryside  house in England (long time ago).  That is an interesting and quite a dramatic ghost story about a haunted house.  He describes the house very well in that.  He blended comedy in to the story very well.

Mr Otis and his family (his wife, daughter Virginia, son Washington)are Americans from New York. They just shift  to the house named"canterville Chase", even after being warned of it being haunted.   Theydid not BELIEVE in ghosts.   They hear a lot of sounds, see blood onthe floor many times etc. They started believing in ghosts, but theystill were not afraid of them.   The name of the ghost was Sir Simon deCanterville.

The ghost becomes humiliated and FEELS terrible,as he could not make the family frightened.  The family talks ofdetergents and stain removers when they see mysterious red marks(resembling blood) on the floor.  The various desparate attempts of SirSimon and the funny responses of the family are narrated with a lotof humour.   Sir Simon changes forms and assumes many roles  like:strangled girl, blood-suc ker, skeleton and corpse snatcher, headlessperson etc.   Instead of frightening the family, he himself gets beatenevery time.  He falls over tripwires, slips on butter, TAKES on his headbucketfuls of water.  He even gets shocked by seeing a ghost  (createdby Otis twins).

Sir Simon comes close and feels good withyoung Virginia in her TEENS.  He tells her the story of his wife.  Sheis serious and beliving and not mischievous like other members of thefamily.   She listens to him sympathetically.   He requests her to prayfor him and weep for him, as he is unable to do those (because ghostscannot weep or pray).   He requests her  to accompany him to the God ofDeath to SHOW mercy on him.   She does so.  Then he is relieved of hisghost state and goes to another world.  She returns to the house laterin the night.   The house is free of the ghost.

Essay on me and my big mouth

Answer» Having a big mouth has its own set of merits & demerits. Now it depends on me whether how I use it.
If I keep it shut, I'll have PEOPLE's trust but having such a big mouth will go to a waste then.
If I open it up too much, People wont trust me and I might become an anti-social or a total social bird!

So I guess the path to follow is to "WEIGH the WORDS in my heart, before bringing it outta my mouth, and use my 'big' mouth to make it loud and CLEAR", that way the 'BIG'ness of my mouth will be put to good use,i.e, if I choose my words carefully and make it reach everyone.

We learn about the world.  We can adopt good things from the people there.  We learn new scientific, financial, and geographical knowledge too.  We learn how to manage ourselves in a foreign location.  We can learn some discipline, to impress others, to improve up on our skills, to speed up ourselves and learn to fit in to different situations.  Finally, we can learn to win and excel in foreign ENVIRONMENTS.

(iii) join the sentences without and, but,so

Can I have a speech on conservation is survival

Answer»

“There is a sufficiency in the world for man’s need but not for man’s greed” – this statement from one of the greatest men in our country, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi CLEARLY depicted the generation where mankind entered into a race for survival and in the process, destroyed, degenerated and dilapidated the environment around him. Now 63 years after the great Mahatma imparted his wisdom, the situation has become worse. The environment which took care of humans, provided them with their needs and protected and cultivated mankind was abused so much by them that it started avenging itself. Global warming, planetary disintegration, unpredictable climates, HURRICANES tycoons, tsunamis and flash floods have taken innumerable human lives.Scarcities of POWER sources, rarity of CLEAN, breathable air, depleting resources and natural disasters have threatened the existence of mankind. It is at this time that the human race came to realize that in order to survive; it has to protect the environment around him. The first target in this process was of course the industrial sector. The emissions of toxic air, dumping of hazardous and non-biodegradable materials into the SEAS and piling up of industrial wastes were the major contributors to this environmental disaster. With the introduction of strict government policies and ISO standards and efforts from non government organizations, every industry is now in need of an environmental manager who will assess the environment friendliness of an industry and define ways to develop, implement and monitor environmental strategies, policies and programs that promote sustainable development. What is the role of environmental manager? He is an individual who carries out a Ctrl+Z on all the environmental felonies which were carried out by the company in the past, reversing the effect to the farthest extent possible. Environmental managers examine corporate activities and establish where improvements can be made and ensure compliance with environmental legislation across the organization. A few of their roles involve developing and implementing environmental strategies, taking the lead on sustainable procurement for all goods and services and coordinating all aspects of pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental health, conservation and renewable energy.

Science, it was not known to people till the 10th Century. The people used to look at everything as an act of God. But Science has given the real ANSWER to each and everyone and nowadays no one even thinks to know about anything without the auspicious touch of science. Science is now even a poor man's work, for example, a MOTOR used to distribute water evenly to each farmer's fields, similarly the fertilizers which are harmful but still used. Earlier farmers used to put manure to their crops but now they put on fertilizers which are very harmful. Now, by this 21st Century, everything we see around US is an invention of science. Science has even played a major role in shaping the lives of all. DUE to science we are able to live lavishly and have a lot of entertainment. It is due to science that we exist on this Earth. Science is the basic need of our daily life. Nowadays it seems that science has bestowed a lot on us but we keep on forgetting that the nature has instilled a lot of facilities. We neglect them and keep on our way with science. So I conclude with the thought that in the FUTURE generation there will be everything that will depend on science. We would be so dependable on them that they would almost be into their trap and without anyone of us noticing that.
