Role of disaster management in hyderabad |
Answer» Answer: Hyderabad now becomes the second city in the COUNTRY to have a dedicated Disaster Response Force, after Mumbai. The Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) on Saturday launched the Enforcement Vigilance Disaster Management (EVDM) with 120 dedicated staff while vehicles will function under Greater Hyderbabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). The need for setting up the EVDM wing arose after 8 workers LOST their lives in the under construction building collapse incident at Nanakramguda, said Minister KT Rama Rao. There is a need to increase the disaster response force strength and set up more exclusive TEAMS in different zones for taking up rescue and relief operations immediately during emergency cases, KT Rama Rao added. After the Disaster Response Force, GHMC will be setting up an exclusive Enforcement wing with 250 to 300 staff. The Minister announced that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has approved the plan to set up more zones in GHMC for decentralising the administration and extending quality service to citizens. “The initiative will be taken up after due deliberations with elected public representatives,” said KT Rama Rao. What is soil erosion describe its various types |
Answer» Answer: Soil erosion is the removal of soil by the forces of nature like wind and water, more rapidly than the various soil forming processes can replace it.” Generally, there is a balance between the soil forming process and the erosional process. The balance can be disturbed by natural or human factors. Types of Soil Erosion :-(a) Water Erosion : Water is a powerful agent of soil erosion. Following are the major types of erosion caused by water. (i) Sheet Erosion : When the top layer of the soil is removed over a large area by the running water, it is called as sheet erosion. (ii) Rill Erosion : This is the second stage of sheet erosion. If erosion continues unchecked for a sufficient TIME, (rills) or small finger-shaped grooves which are a few centimetres in depth, may develop on the landscape. Over a period of time, the fine rills increase in number and ALSO become deeper and wider, and resemble the twigs, BRANCHES and trunk of a tree. This is called as rill erosion. (III) Gully Erosion : This is the third stage of sheet erosion. With further erosion of the soil, the rills may deepen and become enlarged, and are ultimately turned into gullies. The main cause of gully erosion is the removal of vegetation, particularly of trees with their widespread binding roots. Gullies cut up agricultural land and the entire area may be turned into a bad land topography. Gully erosion is also responsible for the formation of ravines. (b) Wind erosion : Wind is a powerful agent of erosion in arid and semi-arid lands with little rainfall. Wind can lift the valuable top soil from one area and deposits in another area. The wind erosion is very dangerous type of erosion because due to wind most of the DESERTS of the world are expanding. _____________________________ hope it's helpful for you mate Please follow me And please mark it as a brainlist |

What are the favourable condition for the formation of desert? |
Answer» Explanation: A desert forms when there has been a shortage of rain for a long time. It may have different geological conformations – mainly due to the effect of the wind (wind erosion). There are sand deserts, called erg, rock deserts, called hammada, and pebble deserts, the serir. The history of a desert can be studied through palaeontology. During the Pleistocene (1 million years ago), where there are deserts now, rainy periods followed each other during the glaciations, while dry periods followed each other in warmer times. This is proven by the stratigraphical sequence of the land and the VARIATIONS of the level of the waters of some lakes that still exist today. For instance, Lake Chad in the Sahara desert used to be much larger and 120 m deeper than it is today. In more recent times, at the END of the last glaciations, the climate of some areas which were constantly submitted to high pressures determined the spreading of the deserts. In other instances (the Patagonian medium desert in the Andes), it was the presence of mountain ridges that acted as a barrier against the wet currents coming from the oceans and that determined the conditions that favoured the development of the desert. Clouds are actually stopped by mountains and therefore they let rain fall on the first side they bump into, while “at the back” it rains very little. The cold oceanic currents have also originated some dry areas: they generate cool and constant winds carrying little humidity which can at most condense into FOG without causing any real rain. For instance, the coastal desert of Peru and northern Chile washed by the cold ANTARCTIC current of the Hudson and the Namib desert, washed by the Antarctic current of the Banguela. In addition, winds are responsible for the ongoing reshaping of the landscape: they play a key role in that there’s virtually no vegetation at all and the ground is easy to attack. In addition, their erosive effect is enhanced by the sand acting as an abrasive agent. The most spectacular results of the action of the winds are eroded and polished rocks in the most bizarre shapes. Dunes are also generated by the wind that builds and “moves” these sandy mountains around; the draughts lift the grains and settle them down again when friction increases. The shape of the dunes mostly depends on the direction and variability of the wind; there may be PARABOLIC, dome-shaped, boat-shaped, crosswise , straight, opposing or star-shaped. |

Answer» Answer: i) Climatic barrier : The Himalayas are a great climatic barrier. They save our country from the cold and dry winds of Central Asia, It also prevents the rain-laden monsoon winds of Indian OCEAN from crossing over to Northern countries and causes heavy rain-fall in the Northern India. If there were no Himalayas, our country would have been barren like the Thar Desert. (ii) Vegetation : The Himalayan slopes have dense forests. Trees of many types grow in these forests. The water of these rivers is used for irrigation and for producing electricity. The rivers also bring new fertile soil with them, deposit it in the plains and make them fertile. (IV) Hill Stations : All the beautiful hill stations in Northern India like Srinagar, Pahalgam, Gulmarg, Shimla, Kulu, Manali, Dharamshala, Dehradoon, Nainital are located in the Himalayas.
