Compare the characteristics features of modern age with europe with india

Answer»

During the late 16th and the 17th Centuries, the European trading companies in India competed with each other ferociously. By the last quarter of the 18TH Century the English had outdone all others and established themselves as the dominant power in India. The British administered India for a period of about two centuries and brought about revolutionary changes in the social, political and the economic life of the country.

Once the British set their foot solidly on Indian soil, they began the commercial exploitation of the natural resources of India. By the middle of the 19th Century arrogant exploitation of the people had tried the patience of the Indians to the limit. The British imperialism reached its zenith between the middle of the nineteenth century and the First World War. The exploitative policies of the British in India saw the BIRTH of nationalist agitation against it. With increasing intrusion of aliens in their lives, a group of middle CLASS Indians formed the Indian National Congress (1885).

The anti British struggle BECAME truly a mass movement with the arrival of Mahatma Gandhi (1869 - 1948). It was followed by numerous movements against the British rule. With the passage of time and stubbornness of the Indians the British had come to realize that the day was not far off when they will have to quit India. Successive campaigns had the effect of driving the British out of India in 1947, but with INDEPENDENCE came the independence of the country into Pakistan.

East India Company Begins Trade in Bengal

The first English factory was set up on the banks of the river Hugli in Bengal 1651. As their expanded, the East India Company convinced merchants and traders to come and settle near the factory.

By 1696, the Company began building a fort around the Hugli settlement. It also bribed Mughal officials into giving the Company Zamindari rights over three villages, one of which was Calcutta.

It also convinced the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb to issue a farman, an official order, granting the Company the right to trade duty-free.

The employees of the Company also carried on their private trades, and so were expected to pay duty. But they refused, which angered the Nawab of Bengal, Murshid Quli Khan, and led to fierce battles.

How Trade Led to Battles

After the death of Aurangzeb, the Nawabs of Bengal, Murshid Quli Khan, Alivardi Khan, and Siraj Ud Daulah, one after another, refused to grant concessions to the Company.

The 1757 Battle of Plassey

In 1757, ROBERT Clive led the Company’s army against Siraj Ud Daulah at Plassey. THe COmpany won, and the main reason for the defeat of the Nawab was that the forces led by Mir Jafar, one of his commanders, never fought the battle.

Clive had managed to secure the support of Mir Jafar by promising to make him nawab after crushing Siraj Ud Daulah. The battle of Plassey become famous because it was the first major victory the Company won in India.

But when Mir Jafar also could not prove himself a meek puppet ruler controlled by the British, the Company deposed him and installed Mir Qasim in his place.

And when Mir Qasim also complained, he was defeated in the Battle of Buxar in 1764, driven out of Bengal, and Mir Jafar was re-installed.  But when Mir Jafar died the next year, in 1765, the Mughal emperor appointed the Company as the Diwan of the PROVINCES of Bengal, and the Company now began to exploit the vast revenue resources of Bengal.

Company Officials Become “Naboobs”

After the Battle of Plassey, the original nawabs of Bengal were forced to give land and vast sums of money as personal gifts to Company officials.

This NEW money and power corrupted the Company's officials and servants, and they too began dreaming of living like nawabs; Britain was a poor country in those days, constantly fighting with its European neighbours, and most of the East India Company's staff came from very poor English homes.

So 'nabob' became an Anglo-Indian term for East India Company servants who became very rich through corrupt trade and other practices.

Which reasons compelled the French people to revolt against Louis XVI?

Answer»

Hi^^

Here's your answer Buddy!!!!!

The reasons leading to the outbreak of revolutionary protest against Louis XVI were:

Social Inequality: French society in the eighteenth century was divided into three estates namely The Clergy, The nobility and third estates. First two estates, that is, the clergy and the nobility enjoyed certain privileges by birth. They were exempt from paying taxes. The Third estate comprises of businessmen, merchants, Peasants and artisans, labours had to pay taxes to the state.

Political Causes: Long years of war had drained the financial resources of France. France had a debt of more than 2 billion livres. To meet its REGULAR expenses, such as the cost of maintaining an army, the court, running government offices or universities, the state was forced to increase taxes which angered the people.

Economic PROBLEMS: The population of France also increased from 23 million in 1715 to 28 million in 1789. FOOD grains were now in great demand. The price of bread shot up. Wages did not KEEP pace with rising prices. This led to subsistence crisis.

Strong Middle Class: A new middle class emerged educated and wealthy during the eighteenth century. They believed that no group in society should be given privileges by birth. Ideas of equality and freedom were put forward by philosophers. The ideas of these philosophers were discussed intensively in salons and coffee houses and spread among people.

Immediate Causes: On 5 may, 1789, Louis XVI called together an ASSEMBLY of Estates General to pass proposals for new taxes. Third estates protested against this proposal but as each estate have one vote, the king rejected this appeal. They walked out of the assembly.

Hope this is helpful (^_^)

Reflection about evolution of ict

Answer»

The acronym ICT means Information and  COMMUNICATION Technology.

ICT refers to the technologies of the hardware and software that enable humans to communicate with one another.

There are four main periods in history of ICT evolution which are;

1. Premechanical period

2.Mechanical period

3. Electromechnaical period

4.Electronic period

The development of the pre-mechanical period can be TRACED in the 3000 BCE-1450CE.

During this period, human beings were communicating with one another using words and pictograms drawn on rocks.

They then started to write symbols in stone tablets to depict pictures that were images for animals, ideas and objects.

Storing of information on paper was revolutionized when paper was produces from the papyrus plant.

Human beings then started communicating through writing on papers, which grew into large books which led to the establishment of libraries.

Libraries were then considered as the first data centers in history.

Numerical information also SPREAD faster in the world ENABLING human beings to make calculations simpler and more organized.

Abucus then developed a counting device that is similar to the current calculator to count and collect information.

Since then ,a lot of technological inventions have been made such as inventions of various types of computers that have helped the world to be ICT enabled.

It is so evident that all th technologies we are using in the modern days are as a RESULT of the early humans ideas.

Can you explain the life of sultan bin Saqr al qasimi

Answer»

Answer:

Saqr bin Sultan Al Qasimi was the Ruler of Sharjah from May 1951 to 24 June 1965. He ruled after his relative Sultan bin Saqr Al Qasimi. Saqr was an Arab nationalist, which undermined the British Empire's control of the Trucial StatesSheikh Sultan bin Saqr Al Qasimi (1781–1866) was the Sheikh of the Al Qasimi and ruler VARIOUSLY of the towns of Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah, Jazirah Al Hamra and Rams. A dependent of the first Saudi Kingdom, his rule over Ras Al Khaimah ran from 1803–1809, when he was deposed by order of the Saudi Amir and restored in 1820, going on to rule until his death in 1866 at the age of 85.

He was Ruler of Sharjah from 1814–1866, with a brief disruption to that rule in 1840.A characteristic of Sultan's rule is that he placed relatives as walis or headmen of the emirates under his rule and so Ras Al Khaimah was effectively ruled by Mohammed bin Saqr, Sultan's brother, from 1823 until his death in 1845, while another brother, Salih bin Saqr, ruled Sharjah until 1838, when he was replaced with Sultan's son, Saqr. In 1840, however, Saqr declared independence from his father and reduced the tax on PEARL divers to bolster his support in the town. Sultan eventually agreed to accept tribute from Sharjah in return for allowing Saqr to rule, but in December that year, Salih bin Saqr and a GROUP LOYAL to him surprised Saqr bin Sultan in his sleep and took him prisoner. Escaping, he was allowed to resume his position in Sharjah by his father until 1846, when he was killed in a fight with Umm Al Qawain. He was replaced by Abdullah bin Sultan who was, however, killed in fighting with Hamriyah in 1855.

With the death of Abdullah, Sultan placed his grandson, Muhammed bin Saqr, as Wali of Sharjah. However, Khalid bin Sultan, a son of Sultan's, disputed his rule and in 1859, Sharjah was divided between the two. Sultan was by now in his dotage and took no active role in the conflict over Sharjah, which was eventually settled when Khalid shot Mohammed and threw his body into a well in the DESERT in late 1860.

(Hindi essay on Cricket Match)

Explain role of womens in European revolution

Answer»

Answer:

Women had no political rights in pre-Revolutionary France; they could not vote or hold any political office. They were considered "passive" citizens; forced to rely on men to determine what was best for them in the government. It was the men who defined these categories, and women were forced to accept male domination in the political sphere.

Women were TAUGHT to be committed to their husbands and "all his interests... [to show] attention and care... [and] sincere and discreet zeal for his salvation." A woman's education often consisted of learning to be a good wife and mother; as a result women were not supposed to be involved in the political sphere, as the limit of their influence was the raising of future citizens. The subservient role of women prior to the revolution was perhaps best exemplified by the Frederician Code, published in 1761 and attacked by Enlightenment philosophers and publications.

The highly influential Encyclopédie in the 1750s set the tone of the Enlightenment, and its ideas exerted influence on the subsequent Revolution in France. Writing a number of articles on women in society, Louis DE Jaucourt criticized TRADITIONAL roles for women, arguing that "it would be difficult to demonstrate that the husband's rule comes from nature, in as much as this principle is contrary to natural human equality... a man does not invariably have more strength of body, of wisdom, of mind or of conduct than a woman... The example of England and Russia SHOWS clearly that women can succeed equally in both moderate and despotic government..."One of greatest influences foreshadowing the revolutionary and republican transformations in women's roles was Jean-Jacques Rousseau's educational treatise Emile (1762). Some LIBERAL men advocated equal rights for women including women's suffrage. Nicolas de Condorcet was especially noted for his advocacy, in his articles published in the Journal de la Société de 1789, and by publishing De l'admission des femmes au droit de cité ("For the Admission to the Rights of Citizenship For Women") in 1790
