explain the statement-we have got this earth planet on lease from our future generation and not as an ancestral property from our ancestors

Answer»

This advice prods us to consider the future, and not to focus on the present or on the past. Instead of living just for today and gratifying our own immediate needs, we should think about how our current actions will affect the planet and the future generations who will live on it.

Let’s use an analogy and think of the earth as a house. If we are given a house to live in, we can use it as we please. Within its walls, we can live pretty much the way we want to. We can be as NEAT and tidy or as messy and SLOPPY as we tend to be. All we have to do is to please ourselves. Now, if we know that we will have to pass this house on to someone else down the line, then we should be more careful about how we treat it. It will have to be livable for others, once we leave. The IMPLICATION is that we will take better care of the place, and we will think and act more deliberately when we consider the future and the folks who will come after us. We don’t want to leave a mess with huge challenges for other PEOPLE to have to deal with and clean up after we’re gone. By doing the best job possible with our HOME, our place, our earth, we are showing respect both to it and to its future residents. We are being altruistic: showing unselfish concern for the welfare of others. We must be mere stewards of the land and its resources, not users and consumers of everything that happens to be on it

How should the disaster management team operate before a tsunami to restrict the extent of damage? You can show the probable areas of damage on a map. Make two index for - a. high risk zone & b. risk zone.

Answer»

1) try to delineate the risk zone based on EXPECTED tsunami height. This is actually quite difficult, as the shape of the underwater slope leading to the shore determines how the tsunami will form a wave, and the direction and scale of expected tsunamis are very difficult to predict. As has been SEEN, tsunami waves can refract leading to shorelines that do not face the source of the tsunami experiencing waves almost as large as those in a direct line.

2) assess probability of inundation by ZONES, with those higher up the shoreline being less likely to be affected, and those directly on the beach being most likely to experience inundation

3) educate the residents of those zones about the possibility of inundation and prepare evacuation plans that can realistically be completed with some warning

4) consider changing physical obstacles to evacuation such as narrow roads, etc.

5) establish an early warning SYSTEM and educate the public about its existence

6) consider planning evacuation of marine vessels from harbors when there is enough notice to make this possible

7) consider capacity of EMERGENCY service such as hospitals, ambulances, fire departments, and police and rescue services to handle the expected disaster

8) plan for shelter and supplies for evacuees, considering that most utilities such as electricity (and gasoline since most gas stations depend on electricity) and water supplies will be interupted for days or even weeks.

9) coordinate with areas that are not likely to be affected to obtain resources such as shelter, food supplies, hospital services, fire and police, etc. so that these services will be readily available when needed

10) where building codes exist consider enhancing standards to improve survivability

11) plan how incoming supplies from out of the area will not be obstructed or blocked by either outgoing traffic or possible destruction resulting from the tsunami

Jaisalmer is one of the driest place in india while mawsynram is the wettest .find out the location of these places and the reasons why these places have such type of climate

Answer»

awsynram (/ˈmɔːsɪnˌrʌm/) is a village in the East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya state in north-eastern India, 65 kilometres from Shillong. Mawsynram receives one of the highest rainfalls in India. It is reportedly the wettest place on Earth, with an average annual rainfall of 11,872 millimetres (467.4 in),[1][2][3][4] but that claim is disputed by Lloró, COLOMBIA, which reported an average yearly rainfall of 12,717 millimetres (500.7 in) between 1952 and 1989[5][6] and López DE Micay, also in Colombia, which reported 12,892 mm (507.6 in) per YEAR between 1960 and 2012.[7][8] According to the Guinness Book of World Records, Mawsynram received 26,000 millimetres (1,000 in) of rainfall in 1985.Jaisalmer receives less than 12 KM of rain because of its distance from Bay of Bengal, monsoon winds and its location in the sub - tropical high pressure belt.

26.

Describe planetary winds

Answer»

The dominant LOSS process for Venus' atmosphere is through electric force field acceleration. Stellar EUV and XUV photoionize molecular and atomic species in the upper atmosphere, producing free electrons. The electrons are LESS massive than their parent ions, and as a result are more easily accelerated up to and beyond the escape velocity of the planet, leaving the ionosphere of Venus and flowing out into the stellar wind.[4] This charge separation between the escaping, low-mass electrons and significantly heavier, positively-charged ions sets up a polarization electric field. That electric field, in turn, acts to pull the positively charged ions along behind the escaping electrons, out of the atmosphere. As a result, H+ ions are accelerated beyond escape velocity. Other important loss processes on Venus are photochemical reactions driven by Venus's proximity to the Sun. Photochemical reactions rely on the splitting of molecules into constituent ATOMS, often with a significant portion of the kinetic energy carried off in the less massive particle with sufficiently high kinetic energy to escape. Oxygen, relative to hydrogen, was assumed to not be of sufficiently low mass to escape through this mechanism. However, a Japanese research team in 2017 found ions from earth have been discovered on the moon which matched earth's oxygen profile perfectly.[8]

What is hydrological cycle

Answer»

The hydrologic cycle begins with the evaporation of water from the surface of the ocean. As moist air is lifted, it cools and water vapor condenses to form clouds. MOISTURE is transported around the globe until it returns to the surface as precipitation. Once the water reaches the ground, one of two processes may occur; 1) some of the water may evaporate BACK into the atmosphere or 2) the water may penetrate the surface and become groundwater. Groundwater either seeps its way to into the oceans, rivers, and streams, or is released back into the atmosphere through transpiration. The balance of water that remains on the earth's surface isrunoff, which empties into lakes, rivers and streams and is carried back to the oceans, where the cycle begins again.

Lake effect snowfall is good example of the hydrologic cycle at work. Below is a vertical cross-section summarizing the processes of the hydrologic cycle that contribute to the production of lake effect snow. The cycle begins as cold WINDS (horizontal blue arrows) blow across a large lake, a phenomena that OCCURS frequently in the late fall and winter months around the Great Lakes.
