Current density is defined as current flowing per unit area provided the area is held normal to the current. Current density is a property which describes at a specific point of the conductor.

Specific resistance of a conductor is the resistance of a conductor of unit length and unit area of cross section. Specific resistance is a property of a material while resistance is not. Resistance increases with length and decreases with area of cross section, but specific resistance does not.
