2. The relative velocity of a car ‘A" with respect to carB is 30/2 m/s due North-East. The velocity of carB' is 20 m/s due south. The relative velocity of carC' with respect to car 'A' is 10 V2 m/s due North-West. The speed of car C and the direction (in termsof angle it makes with the east).(a) 20v2 m/s, 45 (b) 20 V2 m/s, 135°(c) 10v2 m/s, 45° (d) 10 v2 m/s, 135° |

Answer» I guess their is some mistake in this question..btw what is the answer mentioned in book? assuming , +x axis as => i and +y axis as => j so, |V|ab = 30√2 = 30i +30j = |V|a -|V|band |V|b = -20j so , from both , |V|a = |V|ab +|V|b = 30i+(30-20)j = 30i+10j now |V|ca = |V|c - |V|a = 10√2 = -10i+10j |V|c = |V|ca +|V|a = -10i+10j+30i+10j = 20i+20j so the value of |Vc| = √20²+20² = 20√2.. and the direction is in +i,+j that is north-east. (45° with the east.) option A Ohh!! so we have to apply vector form. Got it. Thanks sopan! |
