35. A body with intial velocity u, is moving withuniform acceleration 'a', along a straight line. The sum of the distances travelled by it in thetth and (t+1)th seconds is 80 m. What is itsvelocity at the end of th second ?40 m/s (2) 55 m/s (3) 30 m/s (4) 50 m/s1I. wot t the ton of a smooth |

Answer» The distance covered in 'Tth' second will be given as s = u + (f/2).(2T - 1) and the distance covered in '(T+1)th' second will be given as s' = u + (f/2).[2(T+1) - 1] and we are given if the sum of the distances travelled in Tth& ( T+1)thsec is 80m so, s + s' = 80m or u + (f/2).(2T - 1) +u + (f/2).[2(T+1) - 1] = 80m or 2u + (f/2).[(2T - 1) + (2T + 2 - 1)] = 80m or 2u + (f/2).[4T] = 80 or 2u + 2fT = 80 or u + fT = 40 now, we know that final velocity is given as v = u + at or in this case v = u + fT so, we get the final velocity as v = 40 m/s |
