1.

4.A gas has two specific heats whercas a liquid and a solid have only one. Why?

Answer»

A solid or a liquid when heated, does not undergo any change in the volume or pressure. But in case of agas, both the pressure and volume change on heating. Therefore, specific heatof agas isdefined either at constant volume or at constant pressure and hence agas has two specific heats.
