A bullet of mass 100g is fired from a gun of mass 20kg with velocity of 100 m per second calculate the velocity of recoil gunplz send m ans. |
Answer» ANSWER :
Given :• Mass of bullet = 100 g = 0.1 kg • Mass of gun = 20 kg • Velocity = 100 m/s To Find :• Recoil velocity of the gun = ? Concept Used :To CALCULATE the recoil velocity of gun we need to know the concept of conservation of momentum!!
Solution :Hence we conclude that, Momentum(before gun was supposed to be fired) = Momentum of gun + Momentum of bullet Let us assume the recoil velocity of gun as v m/s !! By applying law of conservation of momentum, ★ Conservation of Momentum = Mass × Velocity ➝ 20 + 0.1 kg × 0= 20 × v + 0.1 ×100 ➝ 0 = 20v+ 10 ➝ 0 - 10 = 20v ➝ v = -10/20 ➝ v = -0.5 m/s
Here, the minus sign INDICATES that the gun recoils in the opposite direction to the direction that of the bullet!! ⠀⠀━━━━━━━━━━━━More to know :• Recoil velocity is the backward velocity . • It is experienced by a SHOOTER when he shoots a bullet. • Hence, it is the RESULT of conservation of momentum . ⠀⠀━━━━━━━━━━━━ |
