let the time taken to travel from  to be be t1 and time taken to travel from b to a be T2 then by the formula of distance we know that

for path a to b

distance x = 30/t1

              t1 =30/x -------(1)

for path b to a

distance, x = 50/t2

               t2 = 50/x --------(2)  

adding eq. (1) and (2)

t1 + t2 = 30/x+50/x

          = (30 + 50)/x

      x  = 80 Km (here let TOTAL time be 1 HOUR )
