i. In series arrangement, current, \(I_S=\frac{E}{R_1+R_2+r}\)

ii. In parallel arrangement, current, \(I_P=\frac{E}{\frac{R_1R_2}{R_1+R_2}+r}\) 

Obviously, IP > IS, so VP < VS

That is series arrangement will have higher terminal potential difference.
