A magician during a show dips a glass lens with nof same refractive index. (i) Why does the lens seem to disappear? (ii) Whatis the power of the lens inside the liquid?C1.47 in a trough of liquid [2]11) V1ă |

Answer» According to lens maker's formula, where n= n2/n1 if n2=n1, 1/f = 0 or f = this means that when n1=n2, the lens in liquid will act like a plane sheet of glass. Therefore when the refractive index(n1) of the liquid is equal to the refractive index(n2) of the lens material, the lens will disappear. therefore, n1=n2=1.47 The liquid is not water because refractive inde of water is 1.33 |
