1.

a small bottle weights 20 g when empty ans 22 g when filled with water. When it is filled with oil it weights 21.76g. What is the density of oil ?

Answer»

Weight of EMPTY bottle = 20 g
weight of water filled bottle = 22g
weight of water = 22-2 = 2g
density of water = 1 g/cm³
VOLUME of water = mass/density = 2/1 = 2 cm³
so capacity of bottle = 2cm³

so the volume of oil = 2cm³
weight of bottle filled with oil = 21.76g
weight of oil = 21.76 - 20 = 1.76g
density of oil = mass/volume = 1.76/2 = 0.88 g/cm³
