A wave has a speed of 500m/s and a frequency of 25Hz. What is the wavelength of this wave in metres? |
|
Answer» Answer: Wavelength is 0.403m and it travels 500M in 20 seconds. In this case we can use the equation: v = f λ
Where v is the velocity of the wave in meters PER SECOND, f is the frequency in hertz and λ is the wavelength in meters. Hence for (a): 25=62 × λ
λ = ( 25 62 ) = 0.403 m
For (b) Speed=(distance)/(TIME) 25 = d 20
Multiply both sides by 20 to CANCEL the fraction. d = 500 m |
