Certain amount of washing soda crystals are exposed to atmosphere, a loss in weight was noticed. How can you account for this ?

Answer»

Solution :WASHING SODA `(Na_(2)CO_(3)*10H_(2)O)` when exposed to air, even at ORDINARY TEMPERATURE, loses its water of crystallisation (EFFLORESCENT salt) and so anhydrous salt is left.
