DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SPEED AND VELOCITY

Speed :-

1. Speed is the distance a body travels PER unit time. Average Speed is the distance travelled per unit time throughout the whole journey.
2. Speed is a scalar quantity, That means It doesn't follow the vector law of addition and has only MAGNITUDE and no direction. Which ALSO means that Speed can't be negative.
3. Average Speed can't be zero.

Velocity :-

1. Velocity is the displacement (change in initial and final position) per unit time. Average Displacement is the total change in the initial and final position of the body throughout the whole journey.
2. Velocity is a vector quantity, That means It follows the vector law of addition, and has both magnitude and direction. Which also means that Velocity can be negative.
3. Average Displacement can be zero Since A body can be on the same position where It was when It started its journey.
