Directions: Below question is followed by two statements I and II. You have to determine whether the data given in the statements are sufficient for answering the question. You should use the data and your knowledge of Mathematics to choose the best possible answer.Find the ratio between the water and milk in the resultant mixture.Statement I: The concentration of milk in two mixtures I and II is 70% and 80% respectively.Statement II: The ratio of quantity of mixture I and II is 2 :1.1.If the data in statement I alone is sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement II alone are not sufficient to answer the question.2.If the data in statement II alone is sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement I alone are not sufficient to answer the question.3.If the data either in statement I alone or in statement II alone is sufficient to answer the question.4.If the data even in both the statements I and II together are not sufficient to answer the question.5. If the data in both statements I and II together are needed to answer the question.

Answer» Correct Answer - Option 5 : If the data in both statements I and II together are needed to answer the question.

From statement I and II

Let quantity of two mixtures be 2a litres and a litres respectively.

Quantity of milk in resultant mixture = 2a × 70/100 + a × 80/100 = 11a/5 litres

Quantity of water in resultant mixture = 3a - 11a/5 = 4a/5 litres

Ratio between the water and milk in the resultant mixture = (4a/5) : (11a/5) = 4 : 11.

∴ the data in both statements I and II together are needed to answer the question.
