Explain why particles of a colloidal solution do not settle down when left undisturbed, while in the case of a suspension they do?

Answer»

Solution :In a colloidal solution, the particle size is smaller as compared to particle size in a SUSPENSION. The effect of gravity on these PARTICLES is LESS than in a suspension. THEREFORE, the particles in a suspension settle under the INFLUENCE of gravity while they remain dispersed in a colloidal solution.
