1.

Find the number whose fifth part increased by 5 is equal to its fourth part diminished by 5.

Answer»

Let the numbers be x

According to the question

\(\frac{1}{5}\text{x}+5=\frac{1}{4}\text{x}-5\)

Taking LCM of 5 and 1 on LHS = 5 and 4 and 1 on RHS = 1

\(\Rightarrow \frac{1}{5}\text{x}-\frac{1}{4}\text{x}=-10\)

\(\Rightarrow \frac{4\text{x-5x}}{20}=-10\)

\(\Rightarrow \text{x}=200\)

So the number 200
