Find the sum of the following geometric progressions : 1, -1/2,1/4,-1/8

Common Ratio = r = \(\frac{\frac{-1}{2}}{1}\) = \(\frac{-1}{2}\)

∴ Sum of GP till infinity = \(\frac{a}{1-r}\) ........ (1)

⇒ a = 1, r = \(\frac{-1}{2}\)

∴ Substituting the above values in (1), we get,

⇒ \(\frac{1}{1-(\frac{-1}{2})}\)

⇒ \(\frac{1}{\frac{3}{2}}\)

⇒ \(\frac{2}{3}\)
