It also applies to the specific equation V=IR, which is valid when considering circuits that contain SIMPLE resistors (whose resistance is independent of voltage and current). Circuits or components that obey the relation V=IR are KNOWN as ohmic and have current-voltage plots that are linear and PASS through the origin.
