Ma'am is the Crura Cerebri one of the three pairs of the cerebral peduncles ( thesuperior cerebral peduncle- which connects the midbrain to cerebellum) or is it anothername for the cerebral peduncles ?? Could you please clear this for me ?

Answer»

Thecerebral crus(crus cerebri) is theanterior portion of thecerebral pedunclewhich contains the motor tracts, travelling from thethalamusto theponsand spine. The plural of which iscerebral crura.

Thecerebral peduncle, by most classifications, is everything in themidbrain except thetectum. The region includes thetegmentum, crus cerebriandpretectum.

Hence, it is a part of cerebral peduncle.
