Solve : 5 cds to 1 dvd? |
Answer» Hello. I am looking for a way to merge 5 cds to 1 dvd. there is plenty of room on a 4.7gb dvd to do so. Is there a program or something I can use to move all the information to 1 dvd without losing any information and installing the program intact. Thank you. So,what are you attempting to do a 5 restore disk set You will find that with many programs, they have "lock" protection, preventing you from copying all of the disks to one DVD. If this technology exists, it will not be possible. Would it be possible to make an image (carbon copy) of all the discs and somehow merge all the images together and burn one big one to a DVD?QUOTE from: sndg311 on November 03, 2007, 05:50:51 PM I have a 5 disk set of hallmark card studio and want to put it on 1 dvd disk. I am sure that you as well as I would rather deal with 1 disk instead of 5 Just exactly how many times are you planning to install this copyrighted software, and on how many machines? Most folks install a software app like this only once, and the time spent FIDDLING with disks is small compared with the length of time they will be using the software. You might be able to make an ISO of each CD, burn all 5 to a DVD-ROM and use it for backup purposes, but that might not work for example if Hallmark has physically pressed anti-copy stuff on the (pressed, not burned) distribution disks. With one dvd you have less of a chance of damaging 1 disk then you do 5.Quote from: sndg311 on November 04, 2007, 04:01:35 AM With one dvd you have less of a chance of damaging 1 disk then you do 5. OK I agree but:- Damage 1 DVD = ruined software package Damage 1 of 5 CDs = ruined software package Point taken. Still want to know how. I guess I could try to extract all to one folder and make a iso and hope I dont lose information by TRYING to put them all together.Quote from: sndg311 on November 04, 2007, 05:08:56 AM Point taken. Well, it's worth a try, the worst that can happen is that you'd be out 1 DVD blank. I think the PROBLEM may come if the installer says "Now insert disk 2" (or whatever) and then checks the volume ID of the currently loaded optical disk, which, obviously, will not have changed, and therefore hang at that point. It may not happen, it may just look for the files it needs without doing any disk checking - I guess there is only one way to find out. |
