Cherrypal announced its first two netbooks to run Android. The Cherrypal ASIA is available in seven-inch ($99) and 10.1-inch ($148) models, both of which run Android 1.6 on an ARM9-based Via VT 8505 processor clocked at 533MHz, and offer 256MB of RAM, 2GB of flash storage, Ethernet, WiFi, and USB connectivity, says the company.

$100 netbook SWITCHES to Android
And there's more commentary on this in the Linux community.
Re: Linux on 7" mini netbook ARM-VT8500 ?
Linux Today - Seven-inch tablet runs AndroidNetbooks finally hit the price point they were aiming for when the concept first came out.

The concept of a $100 netbook was intended to spread computers and internet access to third world and developing countries. I haven't seen the numbers RECENTLY, but it seems like more netbooks have been sold in developed rather than undeveloped countries.

Maybe this will speed things up for undeveloped countries.
