This article describes how to configure Microsoft Outlook Express to connect to an AMERICA Online (AOL) e-mail account.
Until recently, AOL’s e-mail technology was not compatible with Outlook Express. AOL has now made it possible to configure later versions of Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, and Microsoft Entourage to use AOL e-mail accounts.
....
This is breaking News !
Now that Outlook Express is all but dead.
Appealing to the windows XP users, I guess. AOL = Automatically Off Line.Odd that the article does not mention Windows Mail or Windows Live Mail.  But, the setup instructions there should also apply to the newer email clients.  The account setup screens may LOOK different but the process is basically the same in any email client.

I was also SURPRISED to see that the setup is for IMAP, not POP. Quote from: Transfusion on July 08, 2011, 06:34:14 AM

Anybody using AOL should see this link below . Even if  you do not use AOL, it is a nice easy graphical tutorial on  how to set up IMAP instead of the POP client.

I laughed at this. And you spelled AOL wrong. Hurr.

Windows XP came out on August 24, 2001 (RTM version.) source wikipedia.
I cannot believe that AOL "forgot" windows xp for a literal decade.
