Solve : Apple G5 connecting through a switcher? |
Answer» I have a apple G5 and a Windows PC I connected a Link 5 port switcher to a Link ADSL modem. The PC goes onto the net fine but the Mac won't. Do I need a special switcher for the Mac to connect. If I plug the modem direct into the apple it will go onto the net but not through the switcher. Are you saying that you are using a router? No using a D-Link ADSL SINGLE port modem connected to a 5 port switcher. Quote from: Zylstra on January 12, 2008, 03:04:49 PM How are you connecting your internet? USB, Firewire, or Ethernet? Ethernet. So you have a modem connected to a switch with two COMPUTERS attached? Do the modem have a built in router? How many IPs is your ISP giving you? The reason I ask is because most CONSUMER internet products only come with one external IP. If you only have one external IP and want to share it between several computer you need a router. Else one computer will be given the IP and the rest will not be able to get online. |
