This is VERSION 6.0. They've added a new feature called WebRep. You can elect not to ENABLE it during installation; it can be INSTALLED later if so desired. The purpose of WebRep is, as I understand it, similar to the website Web of Trust. Also, on Windows 7 systems, the new version of avast! PUTS a gadget on the desktop. Of course, this can easily be removed if not wanted. I just manually updated a WIN7 64-bit machine to version 6.0.1000 from version 5.1.889 through the GUI, no apparent problems.
Be advised: this update requires a machine restart. This new version also features a built-in sandbox.
