Solve : Birthdays Aplenty? |
Answer» [saving space - attachment deleted by admin]That happens to be what caused the forums to CRASH A lot of people with their birthday on 0-0-0 Yeah it's a strange one. Notice how 90% all are 38 too or birth dates of 12-31-1969. I think after thinking it about even more after TALKING to you about Zylstra that this had to be the cause of the issue over Christmas. MAKES sense because Christmas is a week (7 days) before the 31 and there were thousands of users who had this birthday and caused the calender parse script to overload. Should have seen this list before I deleted the old 10,000+ users. I believe that the whole issue stemmed from the YaBB conversion (old forum) to the new SMF forum. When it was done it must have taken birth dates it didn't recognize or were not filled out properly and converted them to this date or maybe like you said Zylstra how it reminded you of the BIOS Y2K problem, maybe the conversion script had a year variable issue that didn't convert older or impossible years properly. Instead of showing a week of birthday's I dropped it to 4 days unfortunately there's no way to avoid a lot to be listed because most are on the 31st.so that LATEST bug was YaBB's last stand?Possibly. I really can't say with certainty but it wouldn't surprise me. Maybe it's secretly causing problems with SMF because it knows it's going to be deleted soon.Maybe the ex member bug morphed into something else .... Haha yeah, I NOTICED the birthday thing as soon as I was able to get back on the index page. Having people not set their birthdays is what I figured it was, but never thought it was gonna crash the board. But *censored*, that's still a lot of people there hahaha |
