Solve : blinkies are not animated in Windows Mail?

Answer»

I hope this is the appropriate place to ask. My uncle has only had Vista
for a short while. I'm not sure of the specs on his computer but it is a
brand new machine. It is a simple enough sounding problem but I have
googled with no luck so I hope someone here can suggest some things to me.
I do not have Vista myself and am HELPING my Uncle via email so I can't
actually look at what is going on.

His problem is that in Windows Mail when he recieves blinkies or smilies or
other small animations he cannot see them animated. They appear just LIKE
basic pictures when they are in fact animated gifs. Can anyone suggest what
settings he NEED to change so that he can see the blinkies animated. Or any
other suggestions on what could be causing this problem.

Thanks in advance

Deb
I know of no setting in Windows Mail that would do that.

Can your uncle ACCESS his email via webmail, in other words, via web browser? Keep in mind he may be able to do so but does not know it. If he uses an email account provided by his ISP, there's a good chance he can access his mail via web browser. I'm curious about whether he would have the same result when accessing his mail that way. It could be a troubleshooting step.

If your uncle does not know whether he can access his email account via webmail and if his email account is one provided by his ISP, try to visit the ISP's website and search for info on this, or contact their tech support.Thank you for your reply. I have been unable to get him to go and look at his webmail (he is a fairly new user of Vista - previously used windows 3 point something) so is a bit limited. I did however send him a direct link to a moving animation on the web and he is able to see it in his browser. I don't know if that narrows it down for you or anyone else. When I was thinking of a setting in Windows Mail I guess I was referring to maybe some type of security FEATURE in it... Thanks again for trying to help... oh and btw Merry Christmas
