to make a long story short, this "Local Disk(G)" http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg20/nweissma/LocalG_Query.pn... suddenly (more-or-less) appeared on windows explorer.
i have no idea what it is: anybody want to offer thoughts?

Did you recently install and new software that might have created a VIRTUAL drive? Did you plug anything into a usb port? What happens when you click on the drive in Explorer?Hello Allan.

What is the capacity of your C: drive?
What is the brand and model of your computer?
Can you save files to this new drive?
Can you give us a screen shot of disk management?
To open disk management click start and type diskmgmt.msc into the search box and press enter. if by "connected to," you mean 'peripheral,' then yes, i'm quite sure that i don't have another drive connected.

Local disk G: is part of your second internal hard drive.
Why were you not using the second one? Why bother having it if you're not using it?

This started when you were trying to make a flash drive work, so it's hard to tell what you did exactly to create that new partition. If you would like to use the ENTIRE 931GB of that second drive instead of just the 125GB of it you have now, you can just right click it there in disk management and select extend volume. If you want to get rid of the the new 125GB drive and go back to not using the second internal hard drive, you can right click it and delete that new volume.
