Hi there everyone. I have a laptop - Windows XP. It has started freezing and crashing. When I say crashing
what happens is the screen goes blank and there is absolute silence from the COMPUTER. However the power light stays on so there is power going into the computer. I have tried pressing various keys to make it come back to life again but the only way I can get it going again is to re-boot.
I am thinking of trying one of the websites which offers free 'cleaning' of the computer. Would you know of any that are safe ? I am not at all technical so there is much I don't understand about the workings of a computer. I only just understand that there is a difference between the hard DRIVE and ? the softdrive ?. See ! Can anyone help as I am getting worried.

Sleep mode?Well there is no need to get worried, because your computer can be recovered. I would recommend cleaning it up as much as possible. Have you got any antivirus or firewall installed?

if you do, try running a scan. Perhaps it'll PICK something up.

P.S could you identify your antivirus if applicable.He/she has to say something, yet....
