Solve : computer won't boot up.?

Answer»

:-? Hi all, please HELP. Computer will not boot up. Not really technical, have checked the power supply, its ok. But nothing happens when I power up the pc. Its just a blank monitor.

  • Check the switch on the power supply, make sure its on.
  • Check the connection to the power button.
  • Plug something into the wall outlet to test that it works.
Thanks for looking into my problem...I have checked the power supply button..its ok..the wall plug is good too...is possible that there is something wrong with the hardrive..its a 10gig hardrive. I'm running Window XP profYou said nothing happens. Does that mean absolutely nothing? No lights, no sounds at all, no hard drive noises, no floppy drive access?

What is the computer or motherboard make and model? Some details about the system, other problems, etc. could prove helpful. When I power up the pc, I do hear the some noise. I can hear the hard drive spinning I've checked the power supply and fan thing over the motherboard, and they are working. I don't hear any beeping noises, I do have access to the floppy and cd ROM they WORK. ( I can open and close the cd-rom)...I managed to get this info from the actually pc..the motherboard says P2XBL REV.D1 AGP1 The hard drive is a
Western Digtal WD100 IDE hard drive 10.0 GB...its 400Mghz...memory not sure...not more than 256 though...When it did work it was quite fast.If your wondering how I got to this stage...Well I was on the net, and I closed a window...I got a blue page with some writting on the top of the screen..no more than two lines...It said something about if I haven't seen this msg before..there was mention of a crital error encounterd by the pc...I'm sorry I don't remember the exact message.Quote

The blue screen was MAYBE from a crash or a memory dump :-/, not really sure. Its up...I switched that card that was wobbling (someone told me its a CUP card) with another one...and ALSO switched memory sticks..and to my surprise it came up...thanks for all your help everyone We're glad everything was fixed for you.
