Solve : connected but cannot access?

Answer»

I'm new so please bear with me.  I have sbc DSL connected to a LINKSYS router ethernet model BEFSR41.  When in internet explorer it gives me the message Cannot FIND Server, and AOL will tell me there is no connection when trying to LOG on.  I've had this problem in the past where I just log onto my router where it usually tells me it cannot connect for whatever reason, then I fix it and it eventually connects.  This time, it tells me it's already connected, and to make things more confusing, my Morpheus program can easily access the download search (not the web search) and is continuously downloading items.  Please help, sorry for the really long post.  WinXP OS with IE 6.0 AOL 9.0

{don't know if it has anything to do with the problem, but I had been on IE online, then got off, uninstalled DU download accelerator, restarted (it think)then when I tried to go back on IE I couldn't get online.}
I do routine checkups with Spydoctor and Ad-aware, and every other month or so Spybot.
Try this:  Unplug your router from  WALL outlet and then if you have a DSL modem do the same....for about 30 sec
It will assign a new IP ......Also if your router has firewall
protection you may have to disable the firewall in the network connection  (default) folder on your PC.  Also if you have more than 1 PC connected to router make sure that they are turned off as well......this also includes XBOX and Tivo. Restart your PC then your DSL, wait until the go lights on DSL, then plug in your router.
Best of luck!
