Solve : Damaged monitor?

Answer»

Hi -
Nobody is dumb enough to have this problem but me. I was supposed to send a bank an ELECTRONIC signature. They sent me a form by e-mail to sign. I signed the form on the monitor with a pen That was not what I was supposed to do. Now I have my name on the monitor and I can not get it to go away. Is there ANYTHING I can do except buy a new monitor? I will try anything. Thanks Bob This was part of a joke 20+ years ago ... blonde secretary joke... but if it did happen you can try rubbing alcohol on a soft towel to try to thin out the ink and get it to wipe off. If its a CRT tube type monitor its much easier to remove. If its a flat screen display the display surface can have a texture to it that makes ink removal more difficult as well as the surface is a plastic and any STRONG removal chemicals can break down the surface making the display worse.

My daughter when she was 6 years old took a sharpie and Bic pen to get 17" flatscreen display. Rubbing alcohol and LOTS of careful rubbing with the soft cloth did the trick to remove most of the ink. Be careful not to bare down on a flat screen display as for the liquid crystal layers for the RGB can get damaged if too much pressure is applied.

Here is the joke from long long ago ....

Q: Why do Blondes use WHITE OUT on their computer screen's?
A: Because they couldn't find their eraser.

BTW.... do not use an eraser if its a flat screen you will damage the display surface. Rubbing alcohol is safest.DaveLembke -
Thanks I was so upset I couldn't think of anything. I'll try your suggestion to-marrow and let you know how I come out. BobDaveLembke -
Your suggestion worked. My monitor is an Acer . I did not know before that it has a FILM of some sort over the glass so only the film had ink on it. Thanks You saved me the price of a new monitor. Consider the case closed. Bob
