I had a windows update. said to restart. I restarted my pc and a window came up. then it said to type in my login password for windows...I neveer set up my pc for that. then later I tried to defragment my c drive and it came up with a APPLICATION FAILED TO INITIALIZE PROPERLY (0xc0000005) What does that mean and can I get some info on that? and what can I do? Please help my pc is running slow!!!i see you running XP but what service pack do you have installed? how did you login to the computer when you didnt set a password and windows ask you to enter one? how full is your hard drive?
if you have less than 15% free space on your HDD you will not be ABLE to run disk defragmenter.
try to run it using the COMMAND line; type defrag -f in the command prompt then hit enter.And when is the last time you defragged?i'm running serv pak 3 and it's been 1.5 months i haven't ran defrag...I ran it and a black window showed up and dissapeared. that's it. I also tried the control panel and some of the ICONS don't seem to work. why?
