Answer» What is your impression about setting up Audio on a site ?
You can read a result from a survey here.It depends on what type of music it is. And quite possibly who is singing it.Hi I am not talking about Music.
I am talking about using audio for the same purpose a webpage is used.
i.e. GIVING feedback, product review, dicussion about a topic, tutorials ETC.No, I don't like Audio then, it tends to get annoying.I'd like it available, but not automatic.I keep my sound turned down most of the time.
So,I would be thrilled!
But,I suppose in many cases it would be a really good idea.I personally and professionally believe it's not a good idea. I almost always have some type of music or other podcast going and don't like to visit a site that starts playing music and/or other audio that is talking about the website or its services. Honestly sites that automatically start playing either of these types of audio is almost always a site I instantly leave.
If you're going to have any type of audio on the site I believe it should be something that requires the USER to click a button to start playing.I generally prefer not to hear audio on websites. One exception is an e-card site, such as http://www.jacquielawson.com/cardlink.asp, but the e-card pages ususally only play sound when the visitor clicks on a button or LINK. Another exception is online tutorials. I think Microsoft does a nice JOB of integrating audio into some of their tutorials. For example, see Help and How-to > Training > Outlook 2003. They have a Media Player control bar embedded in the page so that you can turn mute audio, pause, etc.
