Solve : dual core?

Answer»

when u have on demand scan like kaspersky internet secruity all day long and slows down all else, is it better to have a dual core computer ?
will it interfear with me playing games or doing work ?
Your internet security real-time protection will not slow your PC down greatly, unless it's a very resource-hungry program or a slow PC.
It will not normally interfere with anything you do.
However, if it is scheduled to run scans at certain times, then whilst a scan is running your PC will slow down a lot.
A dual core CPU will help it slow down less, but the speed of the HDD matters more there, because the scan will use your HDD more than the CPU.
Does that make sense, and does it help? You MAY find that somewhere in the antivirus scanners options and settings, there is an option (that should be something like) Scan All Files, or Scan Only Executables.

Though, like Calum SAID, the Antivirus canner shouldent cause major slowdown, you can limit what it scans with its active shield.

A NOTE:
Though this will make your computer FASTER, it will allow more file types to get in.
Please note that this could allow a virus to get into your system, though non-executable files are not as likely to give you a virus, they still can.so i won't have to get more ram for it ?

or a 8mb cache hard drive then ?

yes ur info helped tyvm

What are your current specs?current specs ? pIII 1ghz 384ram 80 gig 2mb cache

is that what u meant ?

but getting new computer in a monthI see.
That should be fine to run an internet security SUITE on.
Dual core will help, but it's not necessary.
