Solve : eBay to Ban negative reviews? |
|
Answer» Quote EBay to ban negative seller views Full StoryI think the ideal situation would have been some way for buyers who received negative reviews by sellers retaliating for a negative review posted by a buyer to get a hearing by eBay and then eBay reviewing the seller's feedback and taking appropriate disciplinary measures. But, such a system would probably be too costly to administer. Thus, this decision. I can relate to this. In my limited use of ebay, I've experienced a situation where I decided to withhold negative feedback on a seller for fear of retaliation. Still, I WONDER whether the new system will have it's problems, also. Will some buyers post unwarranted/frivolous negative feedback for sellers? Time will tell. Those are very valid points SOYBEAN... Especially the observation on reviewing/arbitrating negative reviews...not economically feasible at all on their part. However even with it being an unpoliced format til now it's probably better than what they plan on moving to...kinda like saying " oh ...it's on eBay it must be good ! !"...If somebody had space and wanted to set up a forum, then charge sellers a very minimal fee - $5 a year - then all eBay would have to do is let the sellers post a link to their thread. I'd have to think about it some more... would the thing to do be to let the buyers respond for free? Anyway - you could let 'em duke it out! Flame fest!! Good for eBay, as they no longer have to deal with it. Good for buyers and sellers, because they are no longer limited to a COUPLE very short exchanges. They can fully describe their gripes. As far as potential buyers or sellers, good for them too, if they can stomach wading through some of the threads that would develop. They could get a better sense of what really happened. Build it up for a couple years, then sell it to Microsoft for $44 billion. I agree with ebay. If a buyer pays for the item within the time frame. What else can the buyer do? People who don't PAY should get some kind of "record" so other sellers would be aware of that business. I hate those notes that say "I'll leave feedback AFTER you leave yours" Sounds a lot like blackmail to me. |
