Solve : Emergency File Retrieval!? |
|
Answer» I do some of my academic work with students via e-mail. One of my students just sent me a WORD file. I spent over an hour correcting and analyzing it CAREFULLY. Throughout the process I had saved it a handful of times. I was getting ready to attach the file and send it back when I realized that I can't locate the file anywhere. Can someone please suggest a way that I could quickly retrieve the lost file? Of course the original uncorrected version is still attached to my student's original e-mail in my inbox. However, that one does me no good! I am using Windows XP and Office Word 2003. Thanks! Not to worry! Windows comes with a REALLY handy search feature! What you can do is this: I really appreciate the assistance. Unfortunately, I must have somehow managed to save it in it's original form because I can't find it at all. Of course I was able to find a slew of others I had been working on recently. When you open a document from an email ATTACHMENT (without saving, just directly opening), it will open in Read-Only mode, meaning it will prompt you to create a new name/place to save the file. Try doing a search of "My Computer" or do a search of "Desktop" (if you save stuff on there), to get a broader search. i must have screwed up and saved it as the original somehow. I went to check the temp files in Word also with no luck. In word, check the MRU list. This is the list of recent files that often appears at the bottom of the file menu. |
