Solve : Employers and email?

Answer»

Is it possible for my employer to get copies of or read my email from my personal yahoo account if I sign onto it from work and if so how would I know it? Lately, it seems that when I SEND an email from my yahoo account (from my workstation) it is delayed by a day or two or I get failure messages that the recipient took too long to respond. My employer reads all emails to and from company accounts but can he read my personal email as well? We are using Window XP Professional Ver 5.1 and roadrunner for internet service. The internet ACCESS goes thru the roadrunner modem and a linyx routerIt is possible. HOWEVER, not very likely. Most corporate setups are used to simply monitor and manage intranet e-mail (mail sent through the companies mail server). Because Yahoo is an online service mail sent and RECEIVED does not go through your companies server it wouldn't be monitored. However, all incoming and outgoing DATA does and it could be read. If it was you'd not be able to tell. The best Rule of Thumb when you are doing anything on a computer in a workplace is that everything can be seen.
Although not every Employer may go to this extent it's the best assumption to prevent trouble.yes............the network belongs to them, and they have all of the jurisdiction pertaining to its usage. while it is true that not all employers will "peek" at your emails; they will routinely track and audit to protect company info and keep a secure system that they pay big bucks for.
