I'm gonna buy a 500GB external hard drive this weekend, any suggestions on a good QUALITY drive? The last one I used didnt even last a year before it died...
Just looking through flyers I have checked out "FreeAgent DESK 500GB Portable Hard Drive' and the online reviews seem good, and a 'Verbatim 500GB External Desktop Hard Drive', the reviews for that one seem average....
Most of the "name"brands are good. Once in a while you'll just GET a bad drive - it happens. I use Maxtor and WD (My Book) for my external drives and have never had any problemsLately i've been buying Seagates as they still offer 5 yr warranties on their regular line of HDD's...
With WD you have to get the Caviar line or the new Green ones for a 5 yr.
