Answer» Hi,
Hope this isn't too dumb a question. I'm MOVING cross country and will be flying. I would like to take my external back-up drive in my carry-on (I'm shipping my full computer SYSTEM via UPS ground) or purse. Am I being overly anxious to worry that the security x-rays in the airport could damage the data on my little back-up drive?
Thanks for any help you can offer.
Patricia
If XRays were harmful to hard drives i'm sure every laptop CARRIER in the last 20 years would have screamed about lost data by now. What i would worry about though is shock from being bumped and jostled about...make sure to wrap it securely in bubble-wrap beforehand and contact the airline about the procedures for delicate electronic DEVICES...
P.S. Welcome Aboard and best of luck in your new place ! !Thanks for your quick response, PATIO. I sort of suspected that, given the prevalence of lap tops. But I didn't want to take any chances. I'll buble-it-up quite well and read up on the airline's advice on such equipment.
